Passanger motor mount help

I need to replace the passanger motor mount but i don't have an engine hoist. For those who have done it did you use a floor jack? If you did where did you lift the motor from? I was told I could use a piece of wood on the floor jack under the oil pan to put a little weight off the motor mount but the idea of that didn't seem to appealing. Any help please

If I remember correctly I think just took it out without bracing anything. Certainly didn't use an engine hoist at any rate. Proceed at your own risk of course as my memory isn't perfect.

Dude, don't replace any mount on your car without the proper support. Go to a Mitsu dealer and see if the guys are cool enough to put a loan out on one of the supports. This way you won't be so worried about screwingup your ride.

Loosen the three mount bolts a little and see if the motor drops any. Edit: My memory is coming back a bit. I think I put a jack under the lower mount for support just in case. You still have the lower mount and the transmission mount, the motor shouldn't go anywhere.

Yeah so i did use a floor jack against the oil pan. Just to make it clear the oil pan has sheet metal welded to it, and I put the jack on that. I did not jack up the car but removed the slack from the motor mount. After that it's real straight forward. 3 14mm vertical bolts, a 17mm and 19mm for the bolt on the mount and a pri bar (or long screw driver) to wiggle the mount loose. Real easy, maybe 20 minutes. Just remember to re-torque the bolts
