By clamping it to the hook, it stiffens everything up. Plus the weight is spread among couple of mounting points.

no not really.

there are a couple of kits available for the base lancer that fit just fine and require much less effort to install than your idea.

Vishnu used one on their evo when they did the lap of america.

the link points to three different brands available that just bolt up to the stock OEM bumper beam and the factory rear tie-down.

Each are not more than $100 for the kit. but like your hitch, modifying the rear bumper skin would be required for access to the reciever.

 

Who in their right mind would put a tow hitch on their Evo???? Why not just get a beat up Toyota Tacoma 4x4?

 

i dont think its a good idea to put a tow hitch on the evo. or maybe as long as you follow the max weight it can tow from the manual

 

Not everyone has space for another vehicle, just don't try to tow a camper.

I have seen those hitches, but they are more of a universal setup. Plus i wanted one where it would not show that was hidden.

I am not saying that this is 100% correct. But my Evo is daily driver. I love the car. I dont need a second car, as this fall i am moving to europe and taking Evo and the R1 there.

 

+1 People just dont understand that some people just cant have 2 cars. Even if the car is only 1000 dollars its still a huge hassle just to have two cars. Once you have two cars its twice the insurance, twice the maitenance, for some people might not have room for two cars at home and what not. My evo is my daily and dont plan on getting a beater anytime soon.

 

I totally agree. I have a 2001 integra gsr for some time. it was just a pain in the ***. two registractions, insurance payments. maintenance and plus i dont have room in my garage for two cars. Not to mecsion bike that takes almost as much room as a car. This way I got an Evo and yeah a trailer, but i dont have all the other payments that come with owning another car.

Plus i get alot of suprised faces when they see an Evo pulling R1 behind it. And yes they both are same color. Looks kinda cool.
