trunk problems

i accidently posted this in the EVO X general.

I woke up the other morning to find that my damn trunk was hit by a damn bee-bee gun. So i take it to the body shop and they want freakin $550 to fix it. Well screw that i would rather get a carbon fiber trunk. So the question is that how hard is it to install? Oh by the way that was the first freakin night my car has been out of the garage atnight since i owned it.

with any carbon fiber thing you should expect fittment issues.........doesent matter wether you are getting a fender, hood or trunk some sometimes dont fit right...............

keep in mind though alot of guys out there get this items and it fits just fine. SEIBON i believe has the best stuff though........someone correct me if im wrong

i got a varis and it took me about 2 hours in my driveway to put it on. unclip all the plastic that wiring for the 3rd brake light and trunk release. unclip the lock. 2 bolts on the release, 4 bolts on the trunk. i did it by myself and i am a tool retard. the reason it took me so long was the hole for the lock wasn't big enough and had to do some filing.

Wow, a bb gun did that much damage? Must of been a damn big bb or a pellet. $550 is retarded to pay to fix something that is so minor

Get an OEM trunk from SATAN and have it painted. No fitment issues and you won't have to pay shipping. Plus, carbon fiber trunks are overrated and without the wing they're so light that when you pop the trunk it springs up with a lot of force which will eventually cause problems unless you remove one of the tension springs.

Another thing to consider: Most carbon fiber trunks do not have provisions for a trunk lock, so you have to use the in-cab trunk release lever. If that isn't aligned properly (common with carbon trunks) then you will have to go through a mess to get your trunk opened.

I've had a carbon trunk one one of my Evo's and it had GOOD fitment issues and I'm speaking from experience.
