Pulled over for tint...

Ugh, so annoying, so I was driving out the other night in Fairfax, VA, and I noticed a cop behind me, so I slowed down and drove normal. He eventually drives like side by side to try to pass me, but then goes back behind me. Like 5 minute later he pulls me over. I had no idea why until he asked me to pull my window up 5 inches... Ugh, what an ***! He was just looking for something to pull me over with, and it is the end of the month, too! He gives me a freaking ticket! I also have that stick on the side of my car that I donate money to the police force, I'm getting that stripped off!!! I had 35% on both fronts and backs. They said I could waive it if I remove the front tints.

He's also like a young looking guy, too, he should have let it go! I got a cop friend, too, his police force doesn't pull people over for tints, in fact he's got 35% tint himself!

Anyways, I'm just venting...

I live in Fairfax County too, and basically with an Evo w/tint or exhaust you basically have a 80% chance of getting pulled over if any fax (fairfax county police officer) gets directly behind you at any time. If I see a cop anywhere behind me, I don't care if its 10 cars back and 3 lanes over.... I will get off the street and pull into a gas station or something. Better to just remove the tint before court and then put on legal tint (50% up front, 40% in the back)

yep I have the same crap here in Illinois. We are two of the total five states that dont allow front tint. I see people all the time in my state with tinted windows on bmw's or higher up cars that I am sure dont get the harrassment that we get.

i had 5% as well, it gets cold up here in NJ, i got tired of doin that ...so i just toook the front off, i may put 35% up there and see how that is....but rollin them down all the time and constantly lookin out for cops is a job in itself ..

to the OP, atleast you guys can have tints on the front , someone said 50% up front, but that sounds light as hell ..why bother.

Yeah it's 50% up front and 40 in the back but they give you 5% leeway.

Hahaha, thanks guys, yeah, I just made the appointment, $30 for removal, and $60 for 50% tint.

My Corolla has 20% tint, hahaha. But 5%, man, that's crazy!

I used to have 5% all around when I had a Sentra. It was so dark, I had to drive with the windows open when driving through my neighborhood at night because I was afraid I might hit someone. I got pulled over at least three times (for other things) with the officer's noticing the tint but was never ticketed for it. When I got the Lancer, I went 20% all around to be close enough to the law to not get bothered and also clear enough to see at night.

Where? I'm looking to do the same. Make sure you watch them remove the rear tint. If they cut the heating wires on the rear window, that's the end of it.
