Pulled over for tint...
And....You're not reading this part....
G. Nothing in this section shall prohibit applying to the rear side windows or rear window of any multi-purpose passenger vehicle or pickup truck sun-shading or tinting films that reduce the total light transmittance of such window or windows below thirty-five percent.
In layman's terms for you?
"Regardless what all of the stuff above this says, you can still tint your back windows dark as hell as long as you are a multi-passenger vehicle or your vehicle has provisions for occasional off-road use."

I'm not a layman, I have 2 advanced degrees in public law. I wish what you were suggesting was true but the FACT is that in VA the law is 35% in the back, 50% up front for "any motor vehicle operated on the highways of this Commonwealth" And that's why people get tickets for dark windows all over the state every day (even in pick up trucks), and believe me the cops know the law and the judges know the law, and lawyers know the law. A sedan is not a "multi-purpose" vehicle or somehow exempt because it has AWD, or mudflaps, or any other off road accessory.
And why is there another exclusion directly below that one for law enforcement vehicles?
And another one below that for limos and such?
Look man I'm just telling you how the law is implemented in VA. If you want to interpret it some way to make yourself beleive that it's legal to tint your evo as dark as you want, be my guest. But if you get pulled over for tint in VA, you will see that the "any motor vehicle operated on the highways of this Commonwealth" clause will take precedence and the ticket will stick. It does every time. The judges interpret the law here exactly like I have explained. Ask anyone who lives in VA and the existence of this thread verifies this.
I used to live in VA. I know how it works. They've got stupid laws and the police try to interpret it the way that they want to. However, when you fight it, you win.
Here's 35% all around. Inspection sticker was handed out after the tint was on the car.

Just because you passed safety inspection doesn't mean anything in court anyways. Anyone who knows someone at a gas station or a car dealership can pass inspection without really having the proper equipmet. And if you have receipts proving that you got your inspection with your illegal tint on, you may be incriminating the place you got your inspection from and it will do you no good in your case.
Since you're so confident that you can "fight and win" based on your interpretation of the law, I want to know if you personally fought a tint ticket in VA and won using your argument? I have access to court records. So let me know if you really did because if a judge decided in your favor based on your argument then being able to find that precedent may help others. So when was your court date? Feel free to PM me the date and the name of the judge so I can look it up. In over ten years of driving in VA, I know that if your tint is too dark and you get a ticket, it's tint off or pay.
And I like your car. Mine has 35% all around.

No, I never had to fight a ticket in court. I've got no reason to lie and act like I have or anything, regardless of what access to records you have. I'm merely saying that the law clearly says that you can have darker than the percentages listed if you meet the criteria specified. It's a stupid law, much like their law about radar detectors and front license plates. I really hate that state, no offense. Illinois isn't much better, and at least I'll be leaving here in a couple of years.
BTW, that Evo that I posted pictures of was one of my old ones. I don't own it anymore. Now I've got a black 2006 Evo with 35% in the front and 20% the rest of the way around. Kentucky license plates are what's saving me from being pulled over nowadays.

I wasn't trying to suggest you were lying
I was just hoping that i could use your case to get myself and others out of paying tint tickets in the future. I'm going back to legal tint probably 50% all around soon anyways because where I live its like driving through a mine-field of cops every day and I'm tired of it.

Carry a box of Krispy Kreme around and throw them out the window when you're being followed by the cops. The donuts act like the heat-seaking missile countermeasures that the military jets use.
just pull the front tint off yourself...it comes off really easy with a razor blade as long as you do it slowly, no need to pay someone to do that.
after my second tint ticket i pulled mine off. I thought it might be fun to tint my window but leave the top 6" with no tint, then they would be unable to hook up their test equipment...I figure the cop would have a fit though
