Somebody let something get in the intake when installing parts or something. Thats the only explanation for damage like that. I hate to say it but the stupid mechanic you mentioned earlier may be more stupid then you thought unless you think you could have done it.(I doubt it) Ouch! Sorry about that dude, I hope the shop may help you out in some way.

yeah that looks pretty bad. looks like you sucked something up in your turbo.....You should see if your filter has a hole or something in it.

I checked the intake nothing was there no hole on the filter, and it was clean from the inside, I can't seem to find out the cause of this, all I can say is that I'll be going to the gearage and start beating the crap out of someone .

The other shop told me that he might have a used evo 9 stock turbo, well see if he has it or not, if he dosen't then we'll try rebulding the turbo.

Hey guys today we kinda rebuilt the turbo back, and as we went through the turbo I took some pic's to see if anyone can help me figure out what cause this.

This is the pic's of the intake filter no holes what so ever

and this is a pic's of the MAF honeycomb

this is the a pic of the hotside of the turbo

and last thing this is a pic of my turbo compressor and the one that we used (it's an evo 9 compressor)

After the rebuit, I took the car and did some logs with it, the knock count was around 5-6 counts, and the car is running rich, and my boost was 20psi.

I really don't know what exacly happen, I would like the pro's to help me out on this, so I can avoed this in the future.

I'd start pulling pipes off and see if you can find the piece that was in there

The turbine side wheel is intact. I guess the pieces did not reach the intake manifold. The intercooler did a good job filtering. I would definitely take out all pipings, intercooler and clean everything.

DUDE am so sorry to see this !!! WTF ??!! the only simple explanation for this is that someone dropped something there !! and something big !! which can`t be sucked inside ?! because the damage is only on the outer side.

1 thing i would do !!! if the weird sound is gone and its no more !!! then definitely this is the cause and the main cause is the stupid mechanic !!!!

You will not find anything "hard" in the intake. Nothing passed the air filter but... air. It's a classic turbo surge damage. Air does this when your BOV is not functional or cannot keep up. Fix the BOV or a new turbo will get chopped up the same way.
