In their defense, I've tried searching for things and had no good results. A lot of times the answer to a particular question is found deep within a fifty page thread, and quite often you need to use very specific search terms. Then there's the question of where to search. Do you go for all forums, or just focus on the one you where you think it should be? Going for all brings back maybe twenty pages of possible threads, many of which are completely unrelated. Narrowing it down limits your chances of finding something, especially considering the very specific search terms required.

In short, yes there are questions that can be easily answered through searching, but for some it requires far more effort than its worth. I can't really blame those that post a question rather than put up with a half hour of searching.

The threads I'm talking about can be answered in 20 seconds with a search (I actually do check).
I noticed the "e" too but I think that's the least of this thread's problems.

Right, like I said, they're lazy.

It's good to read through old threads, that's how I learned. Search and read. Search and read.

Too much expectation of instant gratification these days.

Searching on this site has been almost useless for all the times i've tried. I have not yet been able to find anything...and every time I do search the first few threads are always the same regardless of what I put in the search field. The search functionality could be improved to make it a whole lot easier for people.

Or people could just learn how to search properly. I've never had a problem with the system.

We make a concerted effort to put a quick end to flame wars, bashing, OT, and everything else that turns a useful discussion to crap. As one user noted though, the size is the or problem and asset. As such, we rely on the users that care to report posts when there is a problem. When this is done, we can step in and help out.

The other key part to this is each and everyone of you making a concerted effort to see other peoples viewpoints and discuss things constructively and helpfully.

On the note of products or vendors, As amby said, we have no problem with someone saying something not positive, but if you are going to do so, make it an educated and backed up point. Posts like XYZ product sucks are useless. Now if you do make a reasonable post about personally experience opinion on a product/business and are harassed, you should contact the staff. The exception to this is negative reviews on site vendors, for this, you first have to abide by the negative review rules. But if you do, then it would be cleared.

Although freedom of speech does not apply here, we try as hard as we can, to make it reasonably free discussion. The nature of the internet and large sites like this just simply wont allow completely free speech, nor would you want it to.

Lastly, we are always happy to here suggestions on how to make the site better in teh SS&F section. We always want to make it the best it can possibly be.

i used to come here for a lot of info and to learn great things about my car. i used to come here to get tips - do's and donts on many things. over my few years of being on this site i have made some real good friends and learned so much. in my travels i have helped hundreds from general questions, install help, and even doing many many installs for many members on the site. i even traveled for some of them. i have done a few how too's/ install threads and i feel i have given this thread a lot of great info. but recently this site has been going down hill. it seems its a crime to speak your mind which is your opinion on a given topic. the mods IMHO are using there powers in a non respectable way. i used to have a lot of respect for them and even helped some out. i have now decided not to waste anymore of my time with my opinions , help, tips, anything. i feel i was done wrong but a recent event and basically they ''mods'' say tough crap. its there way ''mods'' or no way. you dont like it... leave. you have no say in anything. so fine im done.

why do i come back? to help existing people who rely on me to be there for them and to pay my respects to the people who got me where i am today. and to help them out in anyway i can. other then that i have no desire anymore to contribute to evom. am i upset?? gee gosh id say so. good luck to new members and i wish everyone the best.
