Why do you come to evolutionm.net ?

I come here to talk with others that love these cars the way I do, and first and foremost I come here to get NON-SALES-DRIVEN advice from other consumers like myself.

I don't know about you but this is the main reason I join a forum and spend my time communicating with people I will probably never meet. The reason I say this is that several times I have been PM'ed by different people on the site saying that they didn't like xyz product for various reasons but they didn't want to post on the forum and respond to my questions in the open because xyz reps trolled the forum and jumped on anyone who had less than favorable things to say about there product.

This worries me, because if we lose free speech on this forum it is for the most part useless. It kills me to think I may spend a ton of money on some part that really is not a good fit for me, but everyone that has valuable first hand consumer advice for me is afraid to voice there true beliefs.

This is a great forum with a seemingly unlimited knowledge base, we need to ban together and protect our right to free speech as consumers!

i get tired of the vendor posts who just post just to show what they sell. I see way too many LEDs for your evo threads recently....

ya that is a big problem all around the internet. if you talk bad about a product, mods will delete it and warn you or delete your account.
so a new guy will come on and only see all the amazing thing 'the garbage" does for the car and never get to read the bad stories. So they foolishly think its a good product and buy it.
people should be able to make their own intelligent decisions, do their own research which can be tuff for sure.
your right, it is sad freedom of speech is striped away by us by the government, and worse that it happens on the internet.
my advice is find internet sites that pertain to bad/good stories of products. REad them and decide what holds truth.

I joined this forum because of my love for evo's and like you said there is a huge knowledge base here.

In the first year or two it was like any other forum........informative and helpful

But as of late, it seems like a huge part of the member base is more concerned with pointing out that questions are posted in the wrong forum, subjecting an ignorant person with tons of ridicule simply for asking a question, and yes, having threads deleted because a vendor doesn't like hearing that his product didn't produce like promised…..which is ridiculous

This forum lost it's original Goal.....which was to provide useful information to those looking for help

Now all i see are members of this forum telling noobs to Search and read the rules......not helping them with the matter at hand. It’s like we’re dealing with a bunch of lawyers who try to negate the actual question because it wasn’t asked or approached in the way they approve of. Grow up…….

It's like the old saying.......Never forget where you came from.

We were all Noobs at one point.......all ignorant.......all full of questions. And all of those questions deserve an honest answer.....not to be made to feel like an idiot for asking.

People on this forum, including some of the vendors have turned their noses up so high, it's disgraceful. It gives the evo a bad name.

Fanboys, Trolls, a$$holes........whatever you want to call it..........but this forum is infested with them.

It’s one of the reason’s I sold my evo along with the fact that virtually every fellow evo I encountered on the road was about 19 and driving like they were running from the cops……..which is funny because then I’d read their posts on the forum and they’d preach and preach and preach how they drive like saints on the street……..and only race at the track…………Bullsh_t.

Everybody have a great day.

I actually like the fact that I can get into an argument about a product and its design with the person responsible for its creation and design. Other than that its just what Links0000 said "just to research products", and see what combo of parts no matter what the price are getting the same results as every one else.

1. This forum isn't free, it's paid for my the vendors thus free speech is irrelevant. It's not a public place, it's a private forum.
2. EVOM moderators have no problem with speaking their minds about vendors, we don't put up with senseless bashing though. Most of the problems people have are due to either their own ignorance (ie.they don't actually know what they're buying) or miscommunication between them and a vendor. This is why we usually ask that they first try to resolve the issue themselves, then contact a moderator and then maybe post a public thread.
3. The search function was created for a reason, so people would use it. The vast majority of questions asked on here can be answered with a simple search and there is no reason to have thousands of threads asking what the best BOV is or what the best TBE is.

I'm going to be brutally honest and say this is probably the worst Evo board around. Flame wars start at the drop of a hat, people can be downright rude, and most are only concerned with talking smack about other people (or their cars). It's not the fault of the mods, or the good members that share info and the love of their Evo; it's simply the mass of users this site attracts. Being pretty much the Evo site on the net means everyone winds up here sooner or later. And that means a legitimate post turns into a 50 page post full of nothing but Fast & Furious references.

So why do I still come here? Well, I stopped for a few months, but I realized this place still has way more content than any other. Granted, much of that is utter crap, but it's nice to see forums constantly updating throughout the day. On many sites you can go days without a new post...and while the community is smaller, and threads more on topic, it can get downright dull. Honestly, who wants to start a thread and wait three days for a single reply? Here you get one right away...it's just usually a "repost +1 IBTL n00b" response

IF you think this site is big, go over to NASIOC. That site is just plain crazy and it seems like a lot of the members are closet sociopaths.

I agree with #3 but in certain circumstances repetitive questions should be asked as new products have been released or redesigned etc etc yada yada

Yes but the questions are more a matter of a consistent theory (ie. BOVs are bad on a MAF car) than of specific applications.

Searching isn't difficult. Sure we were all noobs at one time and full of questions. That doesn't mean we're all idiots who can't use a forum properly.

The Evo has been out for at least 5 years now and just about every question has been asked an answered over and over.

As mentioned above, there is no need for new threads asking "I need new brakes what should I get?" "Will 255/40/17 fit on my stock wheels?" "This Evo is for sale, should I buy it?"

Lazy noobs FTL.
