I didn't mean for this post to be negative.

I just want people to be able to write about their experiences with different products without getting shut off. I know vendors pay for this site and that is why I always buy from site vendors, I just think we need to remember "who is paying who here"

I agree with cutting posts like "xyz sucks" with nothing to back it up, I appreciate the fact that mods do spare me from reading that useless stuff all day, all I am saying is that we are the ones buying from the venders so we shouldn't get censored, pushed around, or silenced by them if we are discussing which product to buy as long as we back it up with reasons and personal experiences as to why we feel that way.

I agree, and this is the spirit of what we do. We have been forced into making the additional steps for a negative review on a vendor due to many of the negative reviews being incorrect or unfounded. We have even had a few case of extortion by negative review/comments. Because of this we have had to step in sometimes, but the point is not to censor, but to mediate and validate. Every single complaint I have dealt with, I have informed the member that if they are not satisfied with the outcome, even if resolved, they may still put up a (negative) review. A good example of this would be JOD where because of our rules, I took down several negative reviews, but even after solving them and getting the member their parts or money, they were still pissed at the hassle and rightfully so. As a result, reviews went back up. Few have taken me up on this because most cases are completely solved with both parties being perfectly happy.

If anyone feels they are being unfairly censored, they can always bring it up with us, the staff, and we are happy to review. As in many cases in life, many are affected by few that abuse the system. Its just unfortunately that to solve the problem, we have to be stricter about rules. We have tried other ways, but they have not worked. Again, if anyone ever has suggestions on how to improve anything, we are happy to hear. All to often, all we here is something someone doesn't like without a proposed solution or specific example. Please do not blame the mods as they work very hard and for basically no thanks to enforce the rules that we give them. Without them, this site would be a cluster****.

Also again, if you feel you are being pushed around or bullied by a vendor...please let us know. They have no more rights then you, and the rules for vendor conduct are stricter than that for normal members

I visit here to bash others and feel better about myself.

In all seriousness I'm here to gain knowledge about my IX and also to form a group of Evo owners in our area.

I come on here and tell people to search because I think it keeps the overall level of awareness of the board members up. Yes, we were all were newbies once. I started off being a newbie back around 1995 when I was taking my first DSM to a shop that rebuilt turbochargers for semi trucks to have them do work on my stock 14B. Back then, there was no huge database of knowledge for me to search through that I knew of. I paid dearly for my "mistakes" and it was all trial and error. Everything I did to the car was expensive, both because of the import car market wasn't what it was today, and because sometimes it was costly to fix mistakes that I made.

Then, while making my first car part order by phone to an old DSM shop (Mach V Motorsports) on my second DSM in 1998, the guy I was on the phone with told me about the best thing in the world. I was going on and on asking all kinds of basic questions. "What's the highest PSI I can run safely on the stock turbo?" and "What's the best clutch for a daily driver?" and "What's the easiest way to get into the 13's?" After fielding my questions for a couple of minutes, he stopped and said "you know, if you go on the net and go to www.dsm.org and check out their VFAQ section, it'll answer almost everything you could ever imagine. Also, sign up for the Talon Digest while you're there. Be sure you search before you start asking questions on the Digest, though, because I'm sure most of the questions you will have are already answered and they like to keep it as simple and clutter-free as possible."

I had a true eagerness to make my car better, to do proper modifications, and to make myself smarter so that I could help out others. This is why I searched. I didn't want to be a burden on others and I respected other DSM'ers enough that I didn't want to waste their time.

Nowadays it seems like everyone is so lazy and so "give me instant results with no work on my part" that they get offended when you tell them to search. Either that, or they blow you off and think that eventually someone will come along and help them out and that they can just ignore your "use the search button" post.

This community is eating itself alive because it's members are lazy. They don't police others and make sure that everyone RTFM before they start asking questions.
