RS Evos were bought to be used as race cars, so there's that risk that you have to think about.

Ok, so Sat morning the owner gives me a call and tells me the clutch shattered and his mech said it was becouse of me driving the car hard. I was in shock the guy even had the ***** to tell me that, again I had that need to hit some one, lol. I told him I never beat on the car and was def beat on by someone other than me. So we go back and forth untill he lets me come in and terminate the deal.

Later at the dealer wile we were 'undoing' the deal he mentions how he has to take a hit on the new tires I insisted on being put on the car since he felt the others were fine and was doing me a favor for buying the car. I told him he had the oem advans on the back mostly worn and new Yoko es100s on the front and didn't match. He said it didn't matter if they were the same size. I tried to tell him that 2 diff tire componds would put added stress on the center diff and Mitsu would prob void the warranty if they noticed. Not to mention the safty hazard of oems on the back and sub par tires like es100s on the front. Then he went on to say he was putting a 'stage2' clutch in it and I asked him what happens to the next buyer who has a tranny issue and Mitsu takes it off to find a aftermarket clutch on it and voids the warranty. Oh, he says "Mitsubishi has a 2 stage clutch that will not void the warranty". Whatever I thought, lol.

Anyway, I got my trade back and gave the car back I am really unsure of buying another used Evo though as you never know what your getting your self into regardless of how good the car may look or run. I still want one though but will take my sweet assed time from here on out I will not give out the Dealers name simply becouse in the end I feel greatfull he let me give it back. All I will say is I'm in CT.

Though I felt sorry for the poor bastard that was coming to look at it this Mon as he was bragging about how he had another guy coming to look at it (showed me the Email) and he actually went up on the price to 27,999

On a side note...Would a bad clutch not slip wile boosting in 5th gear? Also it popped out of 5th gear on me once on the way home wile boosting up a slight hill. Is that a clutch issue? I have had many cars with clutches and out of 7 of them only one ever needed to be replaced but never acted like this car did.

not cool- buying used can be a risk; but sometimes you get the opposite: a well cared for evo for a good price. i did. i'd rather buy used from private party since the dealership will do just about anything to cover up problems, or sometimes they don't even know a lot of the problems. Better Luck bro.

Not all dealerships are the same....

Rodman, shoot me an email at caleb@cbrdspeedfactory.com. We have 3 EVO's currently and we do things a bit differently than your "typical" dealership. You can check CBRD's reputation just by doing a quick search on here.

Take care,
Caleb

It's very big of you to not disclose the name, but personally I would let the information flow. You've pretty much stated the facts and told us that everything worked out in the end, which is a nod in the dealer's favor, but it could be beneficial for others to know what to expect at this dealership. As a fellow CT native I can tell you I'd very much like to know where this place is located...not to give them a hard time, just to know what their deal is should they ever have a car I want to buy.
