'New' IX RS..Never made it home:(
Since I have the time and learned a lot about buying used Evos, I'm going to try shopping this way... First I will see if I can get a X GSR with no extras. I have 5k and great credit with solid income so I will see what the dealers can offer. I don't want to go over 450 a month so unless they have a lease deal or more than a 72 month term I will move on to a IX. I don't think it's a bad idea to go more than 72 months on a car like this since they tend to hold their value and would not lose that much if I ever traded it in or sold it outright. I know the interest rate gets worse but I need to stay in a comfortable budget. Yes I would like an Evo and still be able to feed the family.
So in looking for my next used Evo, I will prob go private sale from a 1 owner, 30yrs and older. Not that it means the car will not be beat, but on average the older the person driving the car, the more the owner tends to respect it and beat on it less. Call me crazy, but thats how the insurance companys do it

Looked at a Infinity G35 coupe today.Wow the car was more impressive than I thought it would be. Not as hardcore as an Evo but a nice balance of performance and luxury. Might buy it
damn, didnt read through all the posts, but im gonna just say id give this thing back and move on. It is sh!!ty though, but look at it this way, you will find one much cheaper, seeing as how you paid so damn much for it. Sucks though man, sorry to hear aboutit, but it is good that it happened right away, now a week down the road...
On a serious note, just them saying you ruined it, I would report them to BBB. Good move on the refund... G/L going forward.
wow, sorry to hear about your horrible experience man. Good luck! Give it back and *HANG IN THERE* Although it took me a while I was able to pick up a IX SE with 6K miles on it and zero mods for right around what you got your RS for. Hopefully they won't give you any hassle about giving it back.
I ended up finding a IX MR/SE edition with 16k that was bought/serviced and then traded in all at the same dealer
They knew the guy so I had input on what he was like and why he sold it. They told me he had to sell it becouse he was moving out of the country. I drove to PA for a total of an 8hr drive...Boy did my *** hurt by the end of that day
I paid 28,991
The only thing that I wish I had cought before I left was the rotors need to be turned. I said screw it and ordered a set of PowerSlot rotors and Hawk HPS pads for the front. I don't think there is an issue with the rear brakes so just fronts for now. I will post pics in this thread when I get a chance.
Oh, the 2004 G35 (coupe/6 speed (280hp)/ had navigation the freaking works) was sweet. It was no joke the cleanest Fing car I had ever set foot in for being a 04 and the sales guy said they hadn't even detailed it yet. I didn't like the 2 DR having 2 kids, felt way too heavy and didn't give me much road feel or inspire any confidence wile driving. I really thought long and hard about it though, as it had 15k on it and they were only asking 23.5k. It had been on the lot 2 days and the day before a guy couldn't go with it due to insurance being too high. It sold the day after I decided not to get it.
In the end I went with the MR/SE edition (never even knew thay had a SE/MR). The funny part is it had just went on Autotrader Mon night and I seen it Tues afternoon. I called and found that someone already had a deposit on it and finace went through. All that was needed was insurance and it was theirs. I gave the dealer my CC# and said if it falls through put a deposit on it and call me. 2 hours later he called me and said the guys insurance was going to be too much. It was mine, ALL MINE, lol. I got down there the next day and drove her home. I was amazed how much faster and better handling the MR was over the G35. The MR 'only' has 10hp more than the G35, but felt like it had 100 more hp
Made it home no problem
Funny how life from time to time guides one in the right direction despite seeming all hope was lost a week before.

the POS on the phone sounded like the guy from raymond the tv show. I told him im on a tight budget and I wanted a car that was never moodded, beatin on, abused, or had ANY warranty work done to it. he repeatly told me "this car is exactly what you described, come check it out before its gone"
he's lucky i didn't buy this car, i'm not as level headed as the OP, and thats all i'll say about that!
