UGH! Ticket today before school

So im driving to school and as soon as im about to turn into the parking lot, i see a motorcycle officer behind me im thinking ugh what did I do?

So he tells me that I have a "modified" exhaust and then makes me pop the hood and i have the intake that was there from when i bought the car. Also he tickets me for no front license plate which i was never given to by the dealership that I bought the car from. Also, the exhaust and intake were there from since when i bought the car.....

so my question is can I get the dealer to fix it or do i have to buy the stock exhaust/airbox then go get it inspected :P

Uh... can you even get a ticket for a modified intake?? Never heard of that before. Should have told him he has no reason to know what's under the hood of your car. You should get the stock exhaust and put it on there then fight it in court lol. Most po's can't tell the difference between a stocker and an aftermarket. At least not the retarted ones in ohio, got pulled over twice for having a "modified" exhaust when it was stock.. I'm not sure how things work in Cali, but they don't know the first thing about how to put on anything on my evo. Just buy them then do it yourself

1. There is no such ticket for modified intake
2. Just swap back on your stock and say thats what was on there to begin with
3. if you don't have mounts for a front plate, you are no required to have one on the front!

Nothing even to worry about man. All of it will get written off and thrown out.

California is very strict on smog stuff. If your intake is not OEM, it must have a California Air Resources Board Executive Order number ("CARB EO number"). Without it, it's illegal and a heavy fine. The exhaust from the cat back is, I believe, not subject to the CARB regulations, but it cannot be too loud; there is a Vehicle Code section that defines the dB limits. A Google search on California smog rules will tell you a whole lot more ...

See more here.

In Cali it is their business what's under the hood.

To OP, even though it was sold to you like that, it's your responsibility to fix it. I bought a car with tinted windows, got tickets even when I had temps on it. And the cop said the same thing to me - you got it, it's you responsibility to know laws and fix whatever is needed fixing

Good luck man

the db limit doesn't matter, CA cops have discretion to ticket you because they personally think it is too loud

CA is really one of the strictest states on exhausts. How much is the fine?

cali sucks when it comes to mods... some cops will just drive by you and others will just pull you over, as it seems, just for the hell of it... or if your car catches their attention (ie noticably louder exhaust)... i want to see if i can get some mods that are made to look stealth... painted black exhaust... and possibly IC piping and fmic that is anodized black...

ive been lucky so far as i am completely stock... knock on wood

I dont think number 3 is correct, The state in which you live governs the rules not the car company...

Maybe it differs from state to state. I know out here in Nevada they don't cite you for it unless you have mounts on there for it with no plate. If there are none to mount on they dismiss it.
