What would be saved in the ECU that resetting it would fix?

yea just reseting the ecu...i had a similar problem and that solved it thats why i just threw it out their

 

Resetting the ECU will return your adjusted timing back to stock setup. It's a good idea in case any of it was pulled, thus a loss in power. It is like a vehicle's safety defense mechanism.

I don't remember if Evo ECUs have a "safe mode" or not. Anyone clarify this?

 

ya i think some of my timing stuff is messed up my car sounds like a loose pulley or belt at idol

 

Yeah but what if you are tuned

 

no it wont reset ur tune ur tune is saved in a diff part of the ECU

 

the ecu remembers the codes that it has pulled until it is removed via a code scanner or if you reset the ecu. when reseting the ecu you also remove the short & long term fuel trims that the ecu has learned.

 

just to let u guys know I put my intake on with the stock bov it runs so much better thanks for all the help now I just need a tune

Ahh, good to see you put the stocker back on!!! A lot of people make the mistake of putting on a VTA with no tune and wonder where the power went... Do you still hear any strange noises or did that problem resove itself with the BOV?

 

Ya the only other problem was a loose belt my car is running good and now I'm just waiting for a tune
