evo 9 underdrive / light pulleys ?? removing balancer shaft??
Hello,
I was wondering how much gain would be achieved from replacing my evo 9 pulleys with underdriven / lighter ones... and removing the balancer shaft...
of course, underdriven pulleys hv side effects...
any one having data on this subject (underdrive and lightweight vs lightweight vs stock, gains & side effects. Also regarding balancer shaft removal...) is most welcome to comment.

i have not seen much info on under drive pulleys, i would also like some input from others that have done this.
from what i've read, the balance shaft is best left alone, unless you plan on going high hp and high RPM.

Haha, I will say this. Stay with your stock pulleys, period. With underdrive pulleys, your engine will not last as long. The stocker is designed to dampen crankshaft twists and vibrations that underdriven pulleys will not. If you build your engine, you will probably want to go with aftermarket fluid dampeners.

okay, so what abt lighter crank pulley?? this is not underdriven, only 4 lb lighter than sotck..
i can underdrive only the alternator and power steering pulleys, and install a lighter crank pulley...

That depends on the engine load/speed. It's like flywheel weight reduction. The benefits depends on the load of the engine. I'm not going to guesstimate either sooo yea.

Cant see there being any ill effects from a lighter pulley. I.E. not under-driven.
I put them on Scoobs and Evo's all the time and have yet to see any issues after many years of use across many customers.
the hlp rev easier above 4500RPM. lower down they dont do much different to OEM.
