Evo or Cobra
I know you already drove his car, but drive it again and start making quick turns. If you can live with the handling and feel of that car (besides the straightline acceleration) then get it.
Compare the looks, interior, handling, power, and overall fun factor. The answer will be there for you!
I say stick with the EVO because taking corners feels like the car is on rails. At least thats how my friend describes it from a passengers point of view in my car.

ohhhhhhh tough one, but obviously since you didnt post this on a cobra forum my guess is that your subconsciously waiting for us to tell you to keep it. which means deep down inside you want to keep it.
course then again i had modded 2000 svt lightning, and im fairly sure it had enough torque to pull the skin on the earth measureably tighter

Evo board.. you really think you will get a 100% unbiased opinion from everyone?
Like everyone is saying, test drive both (since you have a evo, I guess just test drive the cobra) multiple times. Like said before, do you enjoy just accelerating in a straight line? That cobra will never handle like your Evo. If you could careless, and dont mind the fishtail when wanted, then go ahead. I have 600awhp so idk if its fair for me to compare when your powers at such a difference.
I personally love the Evo primarily for its AWD, and if I ever go to another sports car, it will be an AWD. New skyline maybe?

I had a 2003 Cobra and traded it in for my 2003 RR Evo 8. When I sold my 8, I picked up a very low mileage 2004 Cobra making 500whp. I had it for 3 months and found a deal kinda like what you have presented to you. He had a Evo 9 SE with 3000 miles on it that was bone stock. Needless to say I took it and ran.
Now don't get me wrong, I obviously have a thing for Cobra's since I've owned two. They make great power and my 500whp Cobra drove around like any normal civilized car. It basically drove like stock. My problem was a few things. It wasn't my daily driver so on the weekends I would want to drive it. If it was raining, it sat simply cause I wasn't too crazy of driving the car with 315/35 DR's on it. I'm sure driving it with sense I wouldn't have had any problems, but I just didn't want to take that chance. When I bought the Cobra, I only had one kid. Within a month of owning the Cobra, my wife became pregnant with our second kid. It was a pain in teh butt to put a baby seat in there much less two. I knew once the 2nd baby came, I wasn't gonna be driving it very much and I don't like that.
Cobra's handle very well for what they are. Don't let anyone tell you different. Most people that say that probably never even drove one. It doesn't have the quick steering like a Evo, but the ride and handling are very nice. Now, I wouldn't be confy taking turns all fast with DR's on the rear thats for sure.
Good luck with your decision. Both cars are a blast and both are totally different in terms of what they are used for. The Evo just wins me over for its practicality. If I didn't have any kids, I'd have my Cobra again.

It is all about ENJOYING your car. Sure a 600 WHP Cobra is awesome and quick, but I really think at that point, they're just dynoqueens. When can you actually use that power? It'd be cumbersome to drive around, always worrying about traction.
Are you considering this trade because of the high power the Cobra has or simply because it is one of the best RWD S/C cars out there? I love them, but there is a certain point where the power is too much to enjoy on the street. If you drag every other week, completely different argument here.
I'd take the Evo because it will beat a lot of things on the road without much driver effort. A powerful RWD car is hard to keep on the road without lots of experience.
