The "Official" Evo Modding for Dummies
This is an outstanding addition. I have exactly all those basic bolt-on modifications. I had to do a lot of research to find out what exactly to buy and if this was here it would have made decisions a lot easier. Great job chaotic.

OK question everyone, I bought my 2005 Evo 8 MR 2 months ago and thought I had a hugh coolant leak. I cant create a post being new to the forum but I can post a question on here please help me get this out BTW. Ok turns ok my car is tuned and running great at 24 psi stock turbo and intercooler, upgraded intake fuel system and exhaust dynoed at 340/335 as well as new stage 2 clutch flywheel ans Syncros. My problem is my car under max boost is causing back pressure threw the radiator and into the overflow causing coolant to **** out of the drain hose. Ive replaced the radiator cap and it fixes the problem until 24 psi then it happens again. My car is running and holding to much boost for the system to handle. So took it to the dealership and they recommend getting some aftermarket head screws and gasket to hold the psi and lower total engine pressure to prevent back boost and to keep the car from stretching the stock head bolts. So CAN I just order some ARP head bolts and replace them or do I have to do the gasket timing belt balance belt and etc. Cause Id like to just do the bolts but I new some real advice. Car has 58,500 miles BTW thanks

However, I can tell you that a stock block Evo with an OEM head gasket and OEM head bolts will handle around 30 psi without any issues, if the car is tuned properly.
I run 30-35 psi and have a bit over 500whp/500wtq on a built motor, basically no expense spared on the build, and my tuner and I opted to use the OEM Mitsubishi head gasket. Why? Because it works, and there's no need to upgrade it. I also didn't bother to upgrade to ARP head studs for the first two years I ran 30 psi on my stock motor.
You have bigger issues than head studs, head gasket, or radiator cap.
I strongly recommend you stop going to the dealer, and find a qualified Evo tuner, or at least a shop with lots of experience building and fixing modified imports.

They said my back boost is caused by the system not being able to with stand the pressure they called a professional about my coolant leak. After hours of running pressure test and leaks. I'm wondering if a upgraded radiator cap for 25-30 psi would work cause my 16-20 isn't.
Good luck resolving your issue.

Buy a new one and strip it and replace. Yes you will need to re-time the cams and the balance shaft, but it will save you $$$'s and you'll get to know your 2005 VIII a lot better. You are in the right place. I learned everything I needed to know about my 2005 VIII right here.
