The "Official" Evo Modding for Dummies
Got an 03 evo and not to sure what I should buy it. Just got it a month ago and it has the following
-injen intake and charge pipe
-hmbc boost controler
-custom turbo back exhaust with cat delete
-aftermarket clutch
Now I think the boost is set to around 17 psi.
I'm pretty new so tell me anything

Since you don't know much about the car I vote for preventive maintenance. Yeah it's not what you want to spend your mod money on but it'll save you in the long run. When that's done figure out if want to learn how to tune it or not. If you do, buy a Tactrix cable, EvoScan, ECUFlash, a wideband, and a 3 or 4 bar MAP sensor and you'll be ready to start learning.
how about just figure out what u want the car to do first.
from experience, i should have stayed on track towards my goal but i shy-ed away and kinda regretting. even tho its absolutely fun the way it is, im just regretting a few mods.

Ya I agree with this plus a boost gauge, I went with aem and haven't regret it. But for the mods I would get ets licp, or just get the complete injen ic piping set cuz you already have the intake then get a Walbro 255 fuel pump, fmic, and ported exhaust manifold then a tune. You'll make good power there. But one thing I'm gonna say and a lot more are prabably gona say too is RESEARCH before you do anything and learn more about the car before you mod it. Good luck man
I do have a boost gauge. But it's the stock one. I'm not to sure what a wide band is. But getting gauges sounds good. I've got wires and plugs. Haven't changed the trams fluid. It's my daily driver too. Thanks fr the help I think I have a good idea now
I can't believe how many of you guys are recommending performance parts when he has no idea on the history of the car. Seriously, do preventive maintenance. Also, see if you can find someone around you with ECUFlash/EvoScan to see what's up with your tune and how it's running.
You guys are a lot of help! I think I got an idea. I'm gonna pick up some gauges so I can see where all that is at. Ill probably ask what's a safe ratio for the psi I'm running lol. I think I have the injen licp. And idk how to check it for a tune and I don't know any places around here that can. I'm in Roseburg Oregon so there's nothin around here lol
