The "Official" Evo Modding for Dummies
Great thread. Just curious though.... I live in California and don't really have a lot of mechanical knowledge as far as upgrading my car and adding mods myself. I'd dont really know anyone specific either who could do it for me, so, what would someone in my position do who wanted to mod his Evo and make it into a horsepower machine? My overall goal right now would probably be in the 500-700whp range, if possible. I figure I could start with a bigger turbo kit, S1 or S2 cams, upgraded engine torque mounts, upgraded pistons, valve springs, ultra light (but super strong) wheels, dyno tune, suspension, upgraded clutch & flywheel, and an intake and exhaust upgrade. But from there, I'm not entirely sure. And like I said, the biggest problem I've come to find is the lack of people who could do it for me. Especially if it's not CARB legal. No CARB in Cali = No shop will touch it.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Btw, any idea what a project like this would cost overall?
This would be in an IX or newer and it would be used as both a Drag Car and Daily Driver. LOL. Good luck finding a happy medium. I suppose, if it's even possible, I could tone it down on the DD days, but crank it to the max on the Drag days.
