Question Why is my EVO not AWD?

I store my EVO over winter. But today I decided to move it from one garage to another. The drive way is kinda steep and it was icy. Well when trying to get up the grade only one wheel in the front would spin. I would expect this from an 03/04 with an open diff but the 06 has the front LSD. Why would both spin?

Are you using the stock advans? Because they are horrible on ice/snow

Maybe you're mistaken? Maybe it doesn't like you think? Just a thought, I don't know what the SE does or doesn't come with.

How did you discover that only one wheel was spinning? Was there someone in the outside running back and forth?

A friend was over when moving the car and while trying to go up the ice only the passenger side front wheel spun freely while the drivers side stayed put. Both wheels were on ice.

What about the rear wheels?

Oh so maybe it's a diff issue? It has nothing to do with your Evo NOT being all wheel drive.

^ The subject of the post is to grab attention. I know the car is AWD! LOL!

The car is 100% healthy. It only has 8k miles on it and hasn't been launched at all. Most action it sees is an aggressive on ramp here and there.

Both rear wheels spin. I just expected the fronts to do the same. Its not uncommon for 4x4s to really only be 4X2s but I would expect an EVO with front and rear LSDs to act differently. Maybe you really have to give it gas to get it to lock up. I was gently trying to move the car on ice.

This is completely normal. Nothing wrong with your car. The front diff isn't locked so it allow the wheels to freely spin from one another until load over powers it.
