They are definitely two different style cars. I looked at replacing my Evo with a new S4 and couldn't bring myself to do it.

It's nice it's just really heavy, steering is really light and not nearly as much fun to drive as the Evo. However heated seats, cruise, things like that are important too.

Ultimately it's down to your personal preference.

Want raw handling and acceleration at the cost of a rougher ride, and lots of NVH

or

Have a smooth quiet strong car that completely isolates you from the driving experience so you can sip a coffee and talk to your girl whos thinking how many diamonds you can buy her.

Dont forget tho you can fill you credit card on the audi to make it just as harsh but not nearly as fast as the evo

EVO FTW!!! I will NEVER buy a german car again because of my experience with VW.

VW/Audi reliability sucks + you always get bent over and raped in mantinence...I owned a V8 phaeton (basically the same engine as S4) and it cost about $200 for a freaking oil change because of all that fancy German crap ....and the worst part of it is that you HAVE to get them serviced at the stealership because your car will malfunction if you don't have the exact tools to reset the computers and whatnot...

So, I'll say it again, EVO FTW!!!

Evo hands down if you want to modify the car...do not even consider modifying the s4 will cost you too much and not give you the power that an evo will

s4 is something u lease and get rid of after the warranty is over..the evo in the other hand u keep... A group of my friends have s4 n a6's and they all complain about how its so expensive to service and modify and these are guys whose parents have millions...its just not worth it if you're not loaded

I work w/ Audis & Porsches all day and as much as I love the s4 I wouldnt buy one over an evo. I personally own an evo, but the amount you would pay to repair and do maintenance is gonna kill you. Its not like an evo where you can do your own oil change, to say the least. Beware, buy it but be prepared to pay up the ying yang. You know you want an evo anyway, as its cheaper to upgrade. I have personally driven chipped s4's and modded ones and they are fun but will never compare to modded evo.

like others have said it depends what you want in the car. if you want comfort, nice sound system and a great awd system get the audi. i owned one for 3 years in denver and i never once got stuck in the snow. if you want raw performance with very little luxary and a great awd system get the evo. the audi will be a lot more money to mod and maintenance will be more expensive. on the other hand the evo its very easy to mod and not that expensive.

Your asking a bunch of evo heads what to buy, we'll tell you evo. But it really depends on what you really want, and how deep your wallet is. My wife has a twin charged volvo s80 t-6, and it's the worst car we've ever owned. Personal preference really.
