S4 or Evo
+1 for the Evo. My buddy has a S4 and it is definatley more comfortable and a luxury ride than the Evo, but I still prefer the Evo to own, thats just my opinion, its all about personal preference really.
They must be guys then because Evo's do not pick up women. You can pick up any guy with the evo. When I get to school or in a parking lot guys are always staring or coming up to you. A woman looks at it and sees the Mitsubishi emblem and looks away. Looks has nothing to do with it because I look good, like really good and it doesn't work.
OK so fo the better half its the Evo. Way more pros than cons. And hey, im 20 not 40 with 5 kids and a white collar job. Might *** well have some fun. I saw a few top gear reviews on the evo 8 an b5s4. I was thinkin of evo9 or b6 s4. But since the evo widely beats the S4 thanks to ou guys input. It wont problably matter much. I dont plan on modding much....but yea...you kow how it goes
EVO ftw
EVO ftw
The B6 is the other one I got to drive (I don't know the numbering for the Audis, now with a google search I know enough). It definitely wasn't as nice as the Evo, so yeah, go with the Evo. However... The B7 was really really nice that we almost got, but that's out of both your and the Evo's price range by about 10k-ish.
Anyway, yeah I'd pick the Evo for sure between the B6 and it.

Thanks alot for the quick + positive respose guys. I know this is an evo site but 9/10 replies where from guys with experience with both cars which makes a big impact. I couldnt post this on my Air Force Enlistment forums lol. It will be 3 pages of how dumb I am for posting anything that cause them to actually help someone...lol Then another 3 for saying Evo 11 (damn romain crap) lol.
wshihdnevo + You working at an Audi place and pullin up in a Evo = priceless

i admin over on audiforums and used to work at an audi/vw tuning shop in denver. kind of pissed some people off when i pulled up in an evo. i have worked on a4, s4 and a bunch of other audis. evos are by far much easier to tune and work on.
I've also owned both - 2004 B6 S4 and currently own a Evo IX.
Audi advantages: Sleeper - looks like a regular A4 to most, linear powerband (V8), smooth shifting, smoother ride, just all around a more refined car in every way.
Evo advantages: Faster - stock vs. stock, better handling, cheaper, lighter. A much more 'raw' car. Pretty much a street legal race car. Few production cars these days is the driver connected to the car like in the Evo.
Like many have said, I had MANY reliability issues with my S4. Mostly electrical issues........alternator (which is water cooled - $800 part plus the front bumper has to come off for access), coil packs, fuel pump, etc. I really babied the car and it was on a flatbed 2 or 3 times. On the contrary, the Evo has been very reliable for me.
One big dislike I have with the Evo is it gets waaayyy too much unwanted attention. Every high school kid wants to race, it seems. That was one thing I miss about the S4. The S4 is definitley the more understated of the two.
But, contrary to what many are saying, you can get a B6 V8 S4 for around $30K. I know this because when I sold mine (for $32K) in pristine condition to a friend of mine, I came across several with a bit higher mileage in the high $20K range.
I think alot of it comes down to personal preference, and what you feel more comfortable in. Both are fun in their own way.
Cheers!

And, as everyone has pointed out, if you're in to going fast there are tons of options available for the Evo. There really isn't anything available for the V8 S4.........unless you consider a $1500 cat-back worth about 5 hp worthwhile.
