2step base info

I need to know the process in which the factory 2-step limits the revolutions. Does it cut spark? Does it cut fuel? Does it cut spark and fuel? And if possible what method is used to cut spark? Interuption of the CAS, or power to the coils/plugs?

Thanks, I searched, no avail. Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, I didnt really feel that it was "advanced".

Easy way to find out...put a brick on the pedal. After a minute, if the car backfires, it cuts spark. If the engine seizes, it cuts fuel. Question answered

^^ This is a joke. I have no idea, but it does seem like something that would be interesting to know.
