? for people who have cf trunks...

well i just installed my cf trunk. now i read that the rule of thumb is to take the bars out that cause tension so the trunk will open. with the bars my trunks opens wildly. i tried pulling the tension bars off but it seems like it won't budge. anyone got any suggestions or any techniques to make this a little easier? thanks.

I'm wondering about this too. I haven't put mine on yet, but the guy I bought the trunk off of said to just make sure its weighted down with something before popping it . I'm also going to have the wing on mine as the holes were pre-drilled, so I'm hoping that will help.

To take the bars out:

Grab an alligator wrench and grab onto the far portion ( closer to the front ) of the bar . Pull up and use the back portion of the bar for leverage. It will pop out...Somewhat violently.

are you talking about the bar that's not connected to the trunk hinges?

If you pop the bar out of the plastic clips that are holding them together you can slide them through the hinge. The plastic clips are underneath the are where the speakers are. Make any sense?

Just use the key and not the cabin release.

Some don't have the hole for the key cut. Mine didn't come like that.

I had an EvoDave CF lid for all of 4 months. It didn't fare well, even though it was professionally installed and highly recommended by forum members, many of whom (as I found out) never saw the piece with their own eyes. Worse, it started fading within the time; the car was/is ALWAYS garaged for the bulk of the day.

As for the torsion bars, I invested in the RS bars, which theoretically should have helped. Even with the RS bars, the lid few-up like a trebuchet. I traded the lid to someone who was going to use it on his racecar and put the stock one back.

If I were to do it over, and I may, I'd definitely opt for the RS lid. It's lighter than the GSR/MR lid, weighing almost the same as the typically seen CF, it has a factory fit, and one doesn't have to worry about it acting as a catapult. Best of luck to you!
