Angry Screw Mitsubishi!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so I got my car back 2 months ago from it's clutch change. I had to fight with them about the warranty but they finally replaced it. 500 miles later I am going out to dinner about 75mph on the freeway with some friends.. my car starts making this gawd awfull howling noise from the drivetrain area (sounds to me like differential or transfer case) anyway I take it in to the dealership for warranty service AGAIN, the car now has 3900 miles on it. They humm and haww about it for 3 WEEKS!!!! Then they order some parts guessing it is the transmission, (they don't know for sure) as they are taking the car apart they notice my MBC and proceed to put the car back together and deny my warranty claim! Have I mentioned they had the damn car for 3 weeks? They are telling me that my MBC caused a transmission problem! Their reasoning is this: "you added more power to the car so that puts more strain on the engine and drivetrain, so we won't cover it" I could accept this if I had overboosted and blown the engine but it is a drivetrain problem! Anyway I have no idea what is wrong with the car, I am being denied warranty service and have a busted car sitting outside. These people at need to pull their heads out or people are gonna realize they suck and stop buying their cars.

I highly recommend NOT buying an Evolution to anyone who asks me! Not because I don't like the car but because if it breaks won't fix it! I just want my car fixed now so I can get rid of the headache and buy from a good company that will back their product.

By the way I WAS NOT racing it, (they are accusing me of abuse as well, they said why else would you put on a MBC) I was still breaking in my new clutch.

why didnt u take your mbc out before u went in for the repairs, mitsu is gonna find any way they can to get out of paying for those repairs and that just happened to be something to pick on , even if it clearly didnt cause the problem..

dude, that's up for replacement under the lemon law for sure. check out the details in your state, but usually if its been in a shop for 30 days, its a lemon. replaced or cash back bro. check it out. definitely worth it. good luck man.

You should have known they would deny a claim if they found such a things as an mbc. I would take it off before I had any drivetrain warranty issues looked at. It is easy for them to say that the mbc caused it because of the increased power..is it bullcrap..yes..the tranny differential can handle a lot more power than what an mbc will give. Really they have to prove the part had a direct effect on the failure. Pressure them, have an attorney contact them, etc. It worked for me when I had to have my motor rebuilt in my Dodge Durango for a main bearing failure.

yeah, seriously, its BS.

a better intake and exhuast will add more hp, would they void the drivetrain warranty too?

come on. why are people such greedy asshats?

I hate to sour everyone's milk, but everyone should know by now (whether you have a Evo or not) that Mitsubishi has to inspect the car for service; they've been trained to do so. If they find something, they are to call Corporate and request permission to fix it. Just like Microsoft; THIS IS A BETA! Mitsubishi wants to know everything that could be wrong with this car, it's called statistical gathering, blah, blah, blah.

I'm sorry to hear about your situtation, really. You should've known to remove the MBC before returning the vehicle for service...

Good Luck!

its always the honest guys that get in trouble. disheartening, but at least you didn't lie about your aftermarket components. i respect you for that.

I still find it a little odd that in the brochure it reads "And then the voice commanded: Go forth and modify". However in small print it says that aftermarket parts are not covered under warranty. Why even put that section in the brochure? I understand that they are trying to appeal to the younger crowd, but com’on. They tout this car that it’s so fast, and a street legal race car yet it can barely even get by on a few thousand miles on a clutch. If I was Mitsubishi, and I wanted to sell these cars, I would help the customer as much as I could.

It’s also a shame that mitsu didn’t train their mechanics to better handle service for the EVO. It is unacceptable for any dealership to hold a car for three weeks. I hope the best for you evoguy. Also look up the law that deals with aftermarket parts, it has been covered many times in the forum.

one day (hopefully) we will have some sort of qaulity control/testing on ALL aftermarket parts like Germany's TUV certification. That might lead to an acceptance of modifications on cars being serviced or at least some sort of extra warranty plan you can buy if you decide to modify your car. Last time i checked though even in europe modifying a car from stock was illegal too, that could be why they get the faster, more powerful, and better handling cars

The burden is on them to prove the MBC caused the transmission failure.

I had the exact some howling and my transmission was replaced under warranty at 1800 miles. Their song and dance about drivetrain stress is just that.

I would retain a lawyer.

I thought about taking the MBC out before I went to but I didn't figure it would void my drivetrain warranty. Man guess I was wrong! I think I am going to get a lawer. Kinda sucks we all have to deal with this crap.

I have been wanting an EVO since I was in Europe. Now that I have one I can't wait to get rid of it. I got rid of a 350z to get my EVO, what a mistake! The Evo is alot more fun to drive but I would take the Z back in a heartbeat!

This really sucks! I'm sure that eventually everyone who has an EVO will have some sort of warrany issues like this. It'll be a clutch or trans or something like that. What is the deal with ? They have had 8 tries to get this car right!

Look they are right. You cant hook you car up and excpect them to fix it. Anyways, just take that MBC off return everything to stock then take it to another dealer. That is your best bet. Good luck anyways.
