insurance fraud

well picked up my evo from the autobody shop. Northtown autobody by the northtown dealership in kansas city,mo. they claim they saw hidden damage and had to put a new intercooler on. Bull donkey, take a look at the pics i took.

how can a new intercooler have all those bent fins and debris and dead bug guts all over it. i called my insurance company and stated they are doing insurance fraud.

just spray paint a Turbo XS logo on it.. you'll be fine.

=p just kidding.

that sounds really shady though. If they did get you a used one.. they could have picked one that wasn't so noticeably bent. sheesh. nice pics btw. macro much? =p

dispute dispute!!

Better off buying a $200 FMIC through eBay. At least it's new.

What's wrong with a used FMIC? Some minor bent fins like that arn't going to harm you at all. It's the pipes you have to worry about.

Ontop of that, are you 100% positive that it was a "New" FMIC they said? I'm betting they didn't say -new-, and put a used on. Check your estimate and make sure it isn't listed as a new part, and that it was infact used.

I'd be removing my bumper right now if I were you just to check and see how new it actually looks.

You don't need to remove the bumper - just a small portion of the inner fender or undertray, up to the choice of the user.

I'd be worried about running with a damaged oil cooler though, but only really if it was leaking.

interesting mistake on their part seeing as those are two very different parts with similiar names.. hmm. anyway youre fine with the damaged oil cooler unless you saw some track time in the last two weeks.

maybe they meant to say that their giving you a new used FMIC.
also like someone else said, insurance will pay for used parts no problem, as long as your policy states it, they have policies for extra money that only give you OEM new parts.
or you can tell the shop your willing to pay for the difference for a brand new FMIC
