All depends how much you use the car mine 2 yrs and still smells like the day I drove it home but like the other guy I rarely see any seat time in it.

I read somewhere that the "new car smell" is all the chemicals and stuff used to manufacture the interior like mold release agents for the plastic, etc, and was supposedly toxic to some level. I doubt it's very toxic, but it is a smell you can't very easily replicate.
