honestly i think it really depends on how long you are in the car and where it sits.
My 06 is now over 2 years old and i have not driven it in 8 months.. I get inside it and breathe heavy for like 20 minutes because it smells like the day i got it...
No farting in my car. NEVER once ate fast food in it.
Ok, i do let some slip out sometimes.. but it smells like a brand new car in there..

Seriously, I don't know how long it lasts since mine still smells new after owning it for 7 months now.
If you really want it to last, don't eat or take any food inside the car (and the trunk), don't smoke inside the car, always close the windows, always clean the interior, don't take or leave clothes; shoes; socks or anything other than registration and insurance cards inside the car, don't take passengers that stinks and take a bath before you drive

It's funny, but what you're saying is absolutely correct. I've had mine since April of '06 and it still smells brand new. Granted, it's not a daily driver, but a as a lot of people have said, so much of it depends on how you take care of it. No eating or drinking in the car is the main one, as well as no smoking or anything else that carries a heavy odor. Make sure you clean it regularly as well, using quality products, and the car will keep that "like new" smell for a good long while.
