I drive a 9, had the same problem with 4 and 5th at 15k miles, then 3rd and 2nd. get a clutch, cost me 1500 through mitsu, and it is NOT covered under warranty

If it is a 9 with 15k on it shouldn't be warrenty, they might be trying to get out it. Try another Mitsu Dealer. I had to go to 3 different dealers to have my transfer case changed under warrenty.

I had that problem. It is the clutch for sure. Trust me, it is only going to get worse. I got to the point that I couldn't boost at all, let alone get above 45mph. And I never smelled any clutch burning or otherwise. That just gave me a reason to install my twin-disc.

ok yep you guys were right, it is the clutch, the other shop quoted me $1943 for parts and labor thats without tax too. this is the oem clutch.

so the stock clutch is more expensive then an aftermarket cluth?

If you go to another dealer, ask to see the tech that attended the EVO new model & the manual transaxle/transfer case classes. They will at least have to books to refer to with test procedures.

seems kinda weird that a lot of evo 9 owners are needing new clutches at around 15k miles...hmmm...anyway take my advice... i just ordered my exedy twin disk hd version with throwout bearing and 3 quarts of redline mt90 for less than $1500...and ivey tune is going to install it everything for $550... so basically that shop is trying to rip you off...and i would only take my evo to a shop that specializes in evos...hope this helps you out

PS: speedelement gave me the best pricing out of 6 vendors i pmed

F*ck the dealerships. There are very few that know WTF they are doing.

When I wanted to get my ticking sound fixed and took it to the dealership, even though the car was at 27k miles, they wouldn't do it because of aftermarket parts.

Then they turned around and said they'll fix it for 2,000 dollars. F' that crap.

Take it to someone who has worked on Evos. Crap, KevinD fixed my car in 30 minutes, took the dealer 6 hours to say: "I dunno WTF is going on." We had some dude drive from Oklahoma to get his car fixed at KevinD's place. (O_O)

GET AN AFTERMARKET CLUTCH!

The dealorships in my area all wanted around 2G's to replace it with another stock clutch... I put a ACT in for a lot less than that... and my clutch started slipping at around 6K and was gone by about 9-10k....
