Does this Evo check out?
Skip it.
Well Im going to check it out and bring a mechanic I know along to check it too. As long as the mechanics of the car check out I can put some money down on fixing whatever I need to cosmetically. I wonder why the AC vent is gone...

I would probably go there, look over everything, take it for a drive and make a decision. If it was close, I can go take a look at if for you but live kindda far from that place. As for all the fluid, if I buy the car, I would change all the fluid so I know it's all fresh. If you are patience, keep looking and you will find a good one so that you won't regret.
I got mine because my salesman said an older guy traded it for an Audi. Well, the only mod my Evo has when I bought it was an aftermarket Kosei wheel with winter tires and Works catback exhaust. It has about 29K miles.
Good luck

HEY the515...
I'm Tina the one spdrcr456 mentioned about driving that Evo...
Seriously... in all honesty STAY AWAY FROM THE EVO!!!! And I'm not saying that because I want it... Truthfully, I had lead on the guy at Ron's Toy Box, just so he thought I was interested to he let me test drive it.
And actually I took the Evo out twice. Monday for about 10 minutes, because Jim (seller at Ron's Toy Box) had to be somewhere. So I went back on Wednesday and took it out for an hour.
Monday it seemed it fine, but Wednesday when I was able to have it for longer it was definitely a different story....
First of all....
The sunroof is all jacked up. I'm not even joking!! I went to open it and it made this god awful noise. In my opinion it was kind of like the guy took the grease off the tracks and run it like that for years. It made the same awful sound while closing it AND you had to toy with it just right to even get it shut right. Then when I had on the interstate there seemed to be a lot of wind noise from around it too. When I mentioned it to Jim said he'd have the tech look at it, but he also mentioned I was the first to mention that to him!! I doubt he's gunna fix the problem, to be honest! Because he said he didn't think the evo would be on his lot for much longer because of all the people coming in and driving it, so I doubt he's gunna mention anything to anyone else which is wrong but ya. How do you think about investing 18,000 and not check out every aspect of the car!!! Also my OZ Rally is an 2003 like that Evo and my sunroof works perfectly! So ya... Oh and when I closed the door I literally saw the sunroof kinda jump up and move, like it wasn't actually screwed in all the way or something. Its very loose.
Second of all....
Idk what the deal is with that odometer but according to the website it was broken and fixed. When I test drove it it has roughly 28,000 on it. But mind you the dealer did not say **** to me in person about the odometer being broken and fixed. Shady if you asking me!!! They claim its roughly at 67,000. An having to report the mileage as "unknown" (see webpage link below) doesn't sound like fun for down the road with insurance and if you were to ever be in a wreck. Also how does an 2003 Evo odometer break? Seriously like wtf what he doing to Evo to have it break.... ya know what I mean.
Inside Appearences:
The steering wheel is kinda jack up. Its starting to peel and looks like the cover has been taken off before then back on.
Also on some interior pieces it looks like the guy never armor all them because the clear is chipping on them. Both of which isn't that bad just a personal pet pev for me.
Other then that its very clean and well keep.
Outside Appearence:
The wing is doing the typical clear coat chipping. At first I just thought it was on the inside pieces where the carbon fiber is, but it also right ontop of the wing. And the chipping is VERY VERY noticeable.
Overall the body isn't bad at all... but there are a few noticeable spots on the trunk lid, but for the most part there aren't any noticeable rock chips that are that horrible.
The Drive:
In town, its fine. On the interstate it was a little more shaky then I one would thought. 100mph in this Evo, compared to 100mph in my Lancer was kinda scary. The Evo is lowered, but you would think that would help the shakiness.
It also runs VERY VERY rich! At first I just thought it was because maybe the previous owner was running at higher psi then what its set at now (which is 12psi currently), but then after doing some research its because of the type of BOV he has running on the Evo. After doing some research and asking around I found out that the HKS SSQV recirculated blow off valve is known to make you run rich because its not a very good BOV. Oh and it running rich is very noticeable.
The short shifter was nice and all.. and the clutch is very springy. It's definitely got to be an aftermarket clutch because I've driven a stock Evo before and the clutch did not give me a work out like this one did at all. Although Ron's Toy Box doesn't list an aftermarket clutch either which has me curious.
Also I think either the clutch is starting to go or the tranny.. something! Because a few times I had that peddle in all the way and I was still scratching to get into 4th gear and 5th. I fun sat up even close then I normally would just because the clutch was soo hard to push down. Idk but something isn't right there.

--------------------------------------
Positives:
Short shifter
Greddy knob
Cold in intake
Exhaust is clean n good sounding
Interior majority clean and well keep
Turbo Timer does work (tested that out too)
Lowering springs
Negatives:
Sunroofo
Interior clear chipping
Wing clear chipping
Runs WAY to rich due to type of BOV
Possible clutch/ tranny problems
No hood latch?.. not sure why
Odometer broke and fixed... scary!
Honestly dude, STAY AWAY FROM THE EVO!
For what there asking on it... 18, 980.. its not worth it. Because your gunna spend a pretty penny trying to figure everything out with this Evo that isn't exactly up to par. Between the sunroof, the wing, and having the clutch and tranny checked out... ya your gunna be spending some money.
Oh and I can't agree or argue that the previous owner was owner.. I highly doubt it, but then again idk because its previous owner was on the Illinois side. Supposeably there is even dyno sheets on the Evo, but still none the less I'd stay away from it.
Here's the webpage for the actual dealership, incase they didn't mention something on the Ebay bid... http://www.ronstoybox.com/webtemplate.aspx?iid=281524
Anyways I hope this helps you out... I honestly have no reason to lie to you, because if and when I buy my Evo (oneday) I want a red one, and preferably non-modded.
If you have any other questions lemme know. See your pm's.
But ya... Its not worth it!
I know you've been looking for awhile and all but this one is definitely not worth it. I pity the fool that gets it and has to spend a bunch of money to get it to par. Keep looking.. it'd be worth it. When its right you'll know it.
But thats just my 2 cents.
