Resale Value varies!?

Sad to say it guys, but I am ditching the evo and moving over to GTR country. But the thread is not about that.

I went to several places to get an estimate of what the trade-in would be on my 06 IXMR with 5600 miles. Nissan has the worst trade in value offering my 23k, then a seperate nissan dealer offered me 20k!! Yet Acura offered me 28 and Carmax offered me 28,500. I just went around getting random quotes from dealers. Every one of them assumed I would buy a car from them too. So FWIW, if you trade in your evo, check different spots, and definately! Clean it up real nice and let Carmax appraise it, I bet if I shot the guy a $50 I could have got 30k for it, which is good for sale to a dealer. Other than that sell it private party, that is the best bet, but if you dont like the hassel like me, then check out carmax.

If anyone on the boards wants my evo and can get it this week(well soon), let me know. It is awesome condition 06 MR w/ 5600 miles, rarely driven.

I'll still be on the boards though, when the MR's come out, Ill take a look at the Evos again as a DD.

Noooo don't go Jameson!

Really though I'm sure you'll be happy with the GTR. Def need to stick around here though =)

Your best bet is to just sell it privately and use the cash towards the GTR.

Private party is the way to go but sometimes it's very difficult to sell it there. Especially in the time-frame you are looking to get a new vehicle. Sometimes it's just easier to take a loss to get something you want right away. I know it sucks.

Assuming that you have to buy a car from the dealer these numbers are useless!!! I will tell you that I'm giving you 30K for your car, and it really worth 25K but I will sell you mine for 35k instead of 30K so its just numbers game!!! If you trying to get a good estimate just stop by the dealer and let them appraise your car and ask them in the end if they are going to cut you a check for that amount. If not the number they gave you is just a number. You are absolutely right you car worth different amounts at each dealership but the difference usually in the range of $1000 not 8,500

^ Your right, but when your essentially haggling over invoice or MSRP, or some other set range trade-in value counts. Carmax would purchase my car without me purchasing theirs. If I have trouble in the private-party I will clean it up really professional and sell it to them. When I talk to the dealers I talk 1 or 2 different sets of numbers. I have my trade in (if any), and seperately their car, never fall into any of that BS "Lets see what we can get you into this for by working the numbers magic". It should come down to, "buy this for XXX, and I will buy that for YYY". No fee's no bs, just tax/tag/title and car value.

Try selling it individually to a private seller. Good luck with everything though!

You better go running back to Carmax, but I am sure by now they have fired the crack head that appraised your car.

^lol no kidding.

WickedE..... Yeah I know, I know... I just really want a GTR, and for that to happen my Evo and my M3 have to go. M3 is gone, now it's the Evo's time. I would entertain offers from someone on these boards who I know will enjoy the car (take care of it) over a higher offer from elsewhere. I love the evo, but GTR?? Just say it with me....
G-T-R.

Might even throw in my wife with the Evo-deal so I can spend more time with the GTR.

Run to Carmax with their offer sheet and see if you can get the car sold to them for the price of $28,500. If not, try to sell it private party.

I'm waiting for deposit slots to open as well. If you really want one, get ready to pay a premium. From what I hear, only 1500 coming Stateside for the first year.

I will be keeping my Evo though.
