CBRD- they can make you a hitch.
other than them, I haven't found a person or place that make something specific for evo's.

Since it's been bumped, I thought I read in another similar thread if you find a hitch made for a regular lancer it will work

OK, I am one of the few that's actually done this. I have responded to other threads, but it seems that there's always a new thread without this information.

First of all. Here's a picture of my car with the trailer. Now while it looks like a heavy trailer, it's less than 125 lbs, and fully loaded with everything I put on it, it's just under 1000 lbs. The tongue weight is about 80 lbs fully loaded.

Now, here are the FACTS...

pulling a mild trailer with an Evo is FAR LESS strain on it than launching. Drive smartly, don't ride the clutch, don't rabbit start/stop with it, and you will be FINE.

If you have a USDM rear bumper, there is a member on here, who sells a hitch kit which ties into the crash beam, and the differential support. It is EXTREMELY stout, and is nice.

If you have a JDM bumper style: There is no BOLT ON trailer hitch. The base lancer hitch is NOT BOLT ON. I repeat. previous threads which state this are WRONG!

I have spoken to savaho AKA this gentleman:

and while he got the modified hitch to bolt on. it was very weakly mounted, and caused flex that would have eventually ended up in failure. He E-mailed me after I had done mine, and he came up with the same solution as I did.

Here is my solution:

I purchased a U-Haul (made by Curt) hitch for a 2003-2006 BASE lancer.

I purchased a piece of 3/16" cold rolled steel plate 4' long by 8" wide.

I cut off the middle top stabilizing support of the hitch (which would go to the factory bumper on the base lancer.

I then used the crash beam to mark drill holes on the cold rolled steel plate.

Drilled the mounting holes in the steel plate

sandwiched the plate between the factory roll pan, and the crash beam. Bolted it in place.

I then mounted the hitch to the rear tow hook (as per U-haul instructions). And lined up where the top supports met the steel plate. Marked locations on steel plate.

Removed everything from the car. Drilled mounting holes for the hitch on the steel plate. (I then cleaned up, the edges of the steel plate, and painted)

Mounted steel plate and crash beam to car.

Mounted hitch to the tow loop, and steel plate.

Put JDM bumper back on and TRIMMED TRIMMED TRIMMED so that the tow bar clears.

That's how you fabricate a hitch with the JDM bumper, and what you need.

I will be selling mine soon. It bolts between rear crash beam and frame. The hitch sits just below the bumper so no need to cut. Ive used it to tow a small chinese trailer ( which you can usually find for cheap on ebay ) with racing equipment to and from track. Never had any problems with it, and evo can pull few hundreds lbs without any issues. If anyone is interested shoot me a pm. If you search the forum, you may find couple of pics of my white evo with the hitch attached.

Only selling because no longer need it. Evo is done towing stuff to track.

Figured I'd throw some stuff in there to link to other helpful threads. I made a trailer hitch for my Evo 8 with JDM rear following this thread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/we...er-set-up.html

Here are some pics:

I followed this post (#5) to do the wiring:
