What do you guys think of weight reduction

Curious to know what you guys think of weight reduction, Ive thought about doing this, but for an everyday driver is it worth it? You have the obvious which is spare tire jack and tools, ssl sub. Carpet in trunk and so forth. I see people do these things but i dont see it being super practical. Obviously it take alot of weight to drop quarter mile times down, what exactly do you guys take out? Maybe someone can prove me wrong here! discuss

Matt

IMO not worth it unless you are trying to beat some serious records either dragging or tracking the car.

putting cargo in the spare tire well is very handy, and it doesn't slide around

for a daily driver it is normally not worth it. Amenities make up most of the removable weight and replacing parts with lighter versions is expensive+difficult.

Performance gains will be small compared to the amount of weight removed.
Also removing an unproportionate amount of weight in the rear can unsettle the balance of the cars handling.

Its the opposite of practical, but often worth it.

Sorry if this is a little off from your topic but I gotta say that I have never had a car in the past that is so easy to remove the rear seats! Weight reduction for that is like 4lbs? Anyways, why would you need to reduce the weight? Are you going drag racing? I would say remove the rear seat and spare tire from the trunk.

I'll just talk to you about this later. I have a whole list of stuff you can take out and still keep it looking stock. Plus since I pulled everything from my interior I have weighed everything.

I think that if you just DD your car its a waste of time effort and $$$.... if you put all the money that you would spent in weight reduction in performance parts it will do a lot more than a couple of pounds off your car... i think that weight reduction is only worth it when there is nothing else to be done to the engine, and then you would try to lose some fat off the car but otherwise its worthless in my opinion...

there is a difference between weight deducting a dd and an evo. If i rocked a 1g daily you bet your bottom dollar it would be stripped, but in an evo it just doesn't make sense
