$3.99 / gal...might be time for E85....
Its the dollar as well....the fed has been cranking out money...making yours worth less. Backed by nothing. Im about to switch to E85 just for the power. The cost per mile is about the same, but you get 105 octane insted. Even if the Gas goes to 6 dollars a galon Im sure they stab the E85 users just case they can.
right ..... you must work for the gas company or just ... i'd rather not say lol, but ya i average around 300 a tank driving mainly 60 on the highway
switchgrass it should be, grows in poor conditions, etc.
I want to get an E85 tune just for the power, I've seen some big #'s on E-85, and it beats buying a can of c16 just for a weekend of racing if you race alot. I hate that my car runs one thing on the track, but when I'm on pump gas on the street it can't back up that power/acceleration

i was in the UK last week. their gas was over a pound per liter. at the time, it was 2.20 dollars per pound. with a liter being about 3.75 liters, they were payin for around 8.75 a gallon. their gas is on the rise too.
I remember reading a study...they talked about how making biodiesel (very similar to ethanol really), corn pretty much blows. Productivity is something like 40 barrels an acre. However, there is a type of algae, whose productivity (in ponds) was 10,000 barrels per acre!
I also hear that a professor did a paper on this and talked about how to select these algaes and build an infrastructure around it...he was paid off nicely and politely told to stfu...this second part however makes me want to put a tin foil hat on

i wish we have E85 here in LA county but we don't..although i think going the E85 route wont save me any money.. premium gas for my area is at $4.08/gal and last week it was $4.13/gal ...so u guys paying $3.99/gal should be happy cuz we are getting worked here in Cali.. =(

Wow, there are just too many ignorant responses here for me to bother with. Suffice to say that those of you who believe Shell or Exxon determine the price you pay at the pump are severely misinformed. Many of you are probably receiving the $600 stimulus check, right? That should cover the extra expense for this year
Oh, and yes, obviously oil companies are going to post large profits when their primary input increases in value as they need to keep their margins alive. Funnily enough, Shell and E-M's profits were SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER THAN EXPECTED because the price of oil is so high it's severely cutting into their refining profits.
