I think evos just make different noises no matter the mileage.

Yeah I know ONE evo in town that's got over 100K miles on stick clutch. But he drives like an old lady and really takes care of it. It's still running, and more importantly, looking new!
I took my engine apart at 75K and the rod-caps look amazing even with 30 PSI spikes since 15K miles (Stock turbo + Meth).
And the rule applies - taking care of it and it wil llast a good long while. If you let idiots fool with it it will break.

i have an 05 with 107,000 miles. been moderately moded since 20,000. and i drive it like it was meant to be. drag strip half a dozen times a year. till runs like new. stock clutch and everything.

so if you take care of it you should be fine.

btw, as far evo? it is not a luxury car, i.e bmw.audi.benz.

It is AWD car, handles like gocart, it will make noises here and there. You have to make a decision what fits you the best.
amen

Any input from people would be very much appreciated. I plan on keeping this car for a while...even after 80k miles.
Your mechanic's experience was prolly based on the 3000GT or some other old school USDM Mitsus which generally did have issues after 80-90k. Evo's are leaps and bounds better in terms of quality than the USDM Mitsu's of old. Like everyone else is saying, as long as you take care of it, you'll be fine

it will take me 10 years to put 100k miles on it.
by that time im sure I will save enough money to rebuild the whole cars engine so it dont really matter.
