you know , the more I think about this crap the more it really pisses me off. You realize that for the price of the part and the labor- and I am talking what THEY actually have into it- it would have been pennies compared to what they rake in just in a week. They could have came off like the good guys , took care of it, ate a couple of bucks, and then had a happy customer that would have spread good words about them. Instead they want to be tight wad a-holes and now have people that will spread bad stuff about them, scare off potential customers, and have posts like this that will be here on the internet forever to haunt them.
bastards!

I think some of you are jumping to conclusions.

If the cam sensor is bad, and the wires and wire harness started smoking at the dealership...Couldn't this of been the same problem that caused the original cam sensor to go bad (or cause a problem) in the first place?

How is this the dealerships fault then? This same problem is the reason the cam sensor went bad in the first place. I'm not saying this is the case for sure, but it certainly could be. Just because it wasn't smoking before doesn't mean it wasn't shorted or going bad before.

But everyone seems to blame it right on the dealership......wow......

agreed..verify customer complaint..cause/source/test/replace/recheck...since the service advisor, AND service manager most likely havent seen any previous history with the vehicle every being serviced, they just brushed this poor guys car problem aside.. i know this cause my last 4 dealerships ive been working at, have done the same as far as management goes

Yeah, but the first thing the dealerships do is blame the owner and what they've done to the car. It's a vicious cycle.

Let me try to make a suggestion once again.

When you delete the ground strap lug going to the drivers side strut tower (ie as many do when they put a small battery kit) you run the chance of burning up your harness. We have seen this several times on the Evo. It appears that if the ground lug is removed, electricity finds another path to ground which ends up being in the harness that goes to the cam sensor.

So the question is... Was the ground lug hooked up on the car or not?

Before we go further I believe this question must not be ignored. The answer to this question might make all of the differences.
