2005 evo 8 stock boost? Default setting?

I just bought a 2005 evo from a dealer and the boost is set to 13. It has 3" down pipe with meagan racing exhaust all the way back. It also has nology wires and ignition. The car was running fine but the after a month and a half started to sputter at mid to high rpm. i changed the spark plugs and she seems to be running strong again. My question is i do not know what the guy did or had the boost set at before he traded it in. What is the default boost on 2005 evo ? If the boost is set low and it happened to be tunned with higher than 12lb would it mess up plugs quickly ?

Stock boost is 19.5psi, i wouldnt touch the boost until you are ready to get it tuned again. if it is tuned for 12psi; changing it to 19.5 will definitely cause your motor to run lean.

If I were you I'd just take to someone who knows what their doing and get it checked out. I don't think anyone would get tuned @13 pounds, then again there are some challenged people in this world.

Do you think the person may have tuned it to 14psi. If 19psi is stock and he lightly modified it i would think that he would leave it the way it is or even boost it a little more. I am wondering since its a high volume Mitsubishi dealer if the mechanics are trained to lower boost on used evo when they sell them on there lot. That is just me thinking but i guess we could speculate all day. Thanks for the response

13psi sounds like wastegate pressure.

I had that problem when i bought my evo. I was getting 12 pounds of boost. Check for boost leaks. You might be running of wastegate. I dont think anyone sets the boost for that low

i would get it tuned either way, because it could have been tuned for 19.5 and the tech that looked at it could have turned it down, used cars go through too many people to know the truth. From the first owner-to the salesman-then lot guys-then used car tech-then to get detailed. i know when i worked at a toyota dealership, used cars got beat on by almost everyone who drives them

It has a forge black controller that looks to be where the boost is raised or lowered. It has a meter on the steering wheel which is for boost and vacuum. The vacuum idles at 20 which i am told is perfect. I can increase the forge setting which i think is increases what i think is boost on the gage when i step on it. i was wondering what wastgate preasure is or even if people adjusted whith a regulator.

If the forge black controller you are turning only has 1 hose than it is your BOV, if it has 2 then it most likely is your boost controller. but i would not touch the boost if you dont know what your doing. turning that knob a little bit does alot. even a few pounds of boost can make a big differance, or blow your engine

Shameless tuning is in your area. Get in touch with them.
