A few questions on what i should do next...

I'm looking at many options... i can't decide on what to do next....


I'm getting cams but not sure which ones... i'm looking into the gsc s1's but someone recommend the s2's ... will the stock springs and retainers hold up? with the s2's? and i'm planing to stay stock turbo... but want to be around 400whp and around the same torque (close as possible) i'm tryn to find more of torque cams.. but everyone is posting cams for high end and hp...

next meth kit? seems like aquamist is the way to go....? but what should i be looking for in the kit... failsafe... low tank light? etc?

while running meth... is it safe again to run the s2's cams? because of higher boost level's?


and then ported and coated stock headers and 02 vs. megan... they are costing me about the same amount... some people are telln me that megan's crack... some are saying that the stock o2 will never be as good as the megan o2

and of course with all those mod's the stock intercooler isn't going to help much...?

i heard its good up to 400whp after that you need a new fmic... because of heat soaks... just wondering before i do any of the mods ^ should i do a fmic instead?

like instead of cams do fmic or meth ... etc...

and thats all the questions i can think of right now.. but i'll post more if i have anymore thanks

o one more... can you make the stock upper ic piping work with the meth kit? or does that have to be changed out as well? and will a stock evo IX bov work with high boost levels? i saw somewhere on here the "gus" mod to make the evo IX bov hold higher boost...? thanks

cams first, port your IM, throttle body, exhaust mani, ebay o2 housing. Then do meth and a fmic. Pick your cams from the AMS cam thread, search. I have an SMC meth kit, ported exhaust mani, and ebay o2 housing for sale if you are interested.

Pick camshafts that match your turbo. Too big, and you will lose the benefit of early spool. HKS 272's are some of the best you can get for the VIII. If you can find a used set of GSC 272's, they would be great as well. S1's are too mild, and S2's are too aggressive for your application, in my opinion.

AquaMist makes great kits. The benefit of meth is more noticable when you have a larger turbo with higher flow-rate. In the case of the stock turbo, pump gas alone is capable of flowing 37-39lb/min, so the top end benefit of meth isn't as great as it would be for a larger turbo capable of holding more boost and flowing more air.

You will be able to spike higher boost and run a more aggressive timing map, which is good for a bit more horsepower and a lot more torque.

Is it a good idea? Sure. Is it safe with the S2's? Of course. The tune is key to bringing it all together.

The stock FMIC is OK for street/strip on the stock turbo. If you're spraying 50% water alongside meth, the effects of heatsoak are not as exaggerated. Any prolonged WOT driving or a bigger turbo would really call for a bigger one.

The stock piping will work fine. The IX metal BOV can be crushed to hold 30+psi
