I'm almost 51 years old and I am a college teacher and look below at my signature, I own a 9MR, along with an 'old school' 1989 MITSUBISHI Starion. Both have been worked on and are not finished getting tweaked! I also joined two Evo car clubs in my area(TriStateEvo & Evo-NY)...Best thing I ever did! A great bunch of people you'll ever meet! I might be the oldest in the crowd here, but they respect that I drive an Evo! The college kids see me pull up in the parking lot and always ask to see my car close to see my latest mods! They even ask me for advice! Other teachers come around and ask me about "that crazy-looking car with the wing" ...They are driving some 'stuffy-looking" thing. Some people drive a car because it gets them to "point A to B"...I drive a car for the adrenaline rush!!! Remember, you only go through life once! Make it count!!
As long as you are making the payments on your car, there is NO NEED to worry what other people say!! They are just jealous that YOU are getting all the attention and they are not! This car is a legend! We are some of the lucky ones that own one!! Just enjoy the ride man!! -Howard

Where i work, parking lot is filled with bmw's, merc, audi's, volvos all luxury cars, Yes people do look at me strage, but you know what? I dont care... because they dont even know what an EVO is doh! and even i bought OEM wing for my RS because it was missing that Stealth look
I was thinking even to buy an M3 or M5 older model, but i dont have big deep pockets for service, an evo I can fix it myself.
Ones my evo is Paid off, I will get dialy 2002 m3 or something and leave evo for the track/fun days. Used to own S4 audi and i felt too old in it. 4 door and big turbo is a nice feelin'
Life is too short, Drive what you like and enjoy the most!
We do own a Legend!

I never really thought about selling the car, just perhaps taking off the wing and getting the Rexspeed low profile one. But I like the stock wing and am going to keep it despite getting older. EVOs and STis have always had big wings so it goes with the car. When I bought the car new in '04 I was 22 and it didnt bother me. Now I have a "white collar" job and am 26. I get some looks pulling into the office lot but there is a guy here in his 40s with an STi and a woman in her late 30s with a SRT-4 so I am sure they get more looks than I do. I like the looks though.
depends if your the Leader or follower type person.
if you like following the crowd and doing things you dont like to fit in then get rid of the evo and buy a volvo if you feel your to old.
but like me I am a leader or at least dont follow the crowd and just live my life how i see fit. I could be 50 and still would drive the evo, unless i was richer and can buy a porsche.
the thing what cracks me up is you get these old people saying man that kind of car is for young teenie boppers, but you look at them and they try to wear "young style" clothes, go to young clubs, talk slang like young people. LOL it dont make any sense.

I feel your pain. I'm 33 and DD my 9. It's quite loud. People give weird look sometimes. Most people around me don't like car that much. There's talk about when I will grow up a bit more and get into a less noisy and more classy car hehe. There're times I consider selling it too, simply can't find any fun and reasonably-priced substitute for this kind of toy.

I'm really glad that you guys, even some of you in the 50's and 60's, are loving your Evos as much as anyone else out there. I love my car and I'm not going to get rid off it just because my co-workers are giving me the weird looks. I remember the first day I pulled in the parking lot my direct manager was also pulling in and she just shook her head and told me that I need a grown up car and since I also got married recently that I shouldn't be playing around any more. Of course that really ticked me off, but then again I heard a similar comment from someone in dept next to me when she saw me pull it. So I was thinking, hey maybe its me and those people are right...
I appreciate everyone's response and I'm glad we are a tight community
P.S. Howard, the college professor, big thumbs up to you man!

I am 28. I am in the Army and getting up there in possition. I just traded in my A4 for my VIII. I love the hell out of it. My step father looked at it and said, "you back peddled a bit didn't you?" I told him he had no idea. I took a huge leap forward!
