What you like about your Evo....
Alright everyone. I haven't even picked up my Evo yet and it won't be brought in till the end of this week probably. I am thinking I should be going down to the Subaru dealership to pick up an STi instead after reading the last weeks worth of threads (clutch, bad dash, heater nob, bumpy ride ect.).
I am not buying the car for the upscale dash, the luxery ride, the two zone climate control, the 80,000 tread wear tires, and the 50 mpg for my commute to work. I am buying this car to have fun, to be a great sports car and still be able to put a baby seat and a dog in the back seat, kick *** on track days and autox and look the part. How about some things you like about the Evo and what kicks a$$ about it so I look forward to picking it up the end of this week.....

Worn clutches seem to be the biggest complaint so far partially because the best way to launch this car is a very high rpm slip which with the clutch restrictor and weak pressure plate simply burns the disc quick. I have 3,000 miles and the car is perfect (knocks on wood). No rattles, no clutch problems, no heater probs, nothing. Just do your part and take good care and more times then not your car will take care of you. Also, proven detonation problems on the STi are far more worriesome then the early demise of any often abused replacebale wear item like a clutch setup.

Dude, for all of the niggling worries, the car is awesome. I have driven or owned lots of fast/sporty cars and this one takes the cake. It is not quite the fastest or nicest inside, but it outhandles everything, has AWD to give confidence in bad weather or crappy, dusty curves, and just flat out hauls. How can you not like this:
I am starting to feel better already. I've autocrossed and done track days for 4 years now, all with AWD cars and have not had a problem with clutches wearing out early (knock on wood 3 times). Lets hope it stays that way. I love that engine bay by the way! That is SWEET!!!!!!!!!!

There i let a guy that has all kinds of expensive performance cars like BMW M5, M3, SL 55 AMG, and more. He was following his friend, who was driving his own M5 with like 450hp, through some twisties and he almost **** his pants. He could not believe that he could stay on his friends ***. Even on the straights the M5 couldnt pull away. I followed his friend some more on the highway and stayed on his *** up to 125. He couldnt get away from me.
To this day i have never seen a bigger grin on somebodies face

A complete BLAST to drive.. Probably most fun car i have ever driven besides my old 3rd gen RX-7. And it is about equal with that.
Car handles great, the steering ratio ROCKS! The AWD is fun, the breaking is great. The power is awsome for a stock car. The turbo lag is not bad at all like the WRX was. The seats feel great. Not quite as awsome as other recaros, but better then any other stock seat.
You will not regret it..

Driving Dynamics. If you track you're car, you will NEVER be disappointed in teh Evo. It will reward you over and over again. Now if you plan on taking it to a swamp buggy race... Err I mean take your fish for a walk.. Err I mean Take your Evo Drag Racing.. well you get what comes natural when you take a beast out of it's element.
I've had my evo for almost 2 weeks... LOVE IT!!!
The first 500 miles... the deceleration noise is little loud. But around 1000 miles... it became almost non-existent. So be patient with the noise.
The performance of this car is ... INCREDIBLE!!!!!
I cant tell you how many times i've taken a corner at 2 or 3 times the speed of my Modded 99 Accord Coupe V6. Understeer is so gradual . Confident inspiring driving.
You'll definitely love it!

Don't be swayed by the dorks that rip their clutches out and say that it's a factory error. Drive the car hard, like it should be driven. Not hard like an idiot. There is a big difference. I drive my car hard. When I say hard I mean, 1st through 4th redlining each gear, with quick shifts. Downshifting and bringing the RPMs up, Evo loves high RPMs. Not droping the clutch a 7K and holding on. I'm talking about taking on ramps and off ramps at 70 accelerating through when they say 25MPH. This car wants to be driven hard. I'm not saying this is safe driving by all means but the car loves that kind of ****. Just ease up on the launches and you'll love the Evo8 and hove no problems but getting oil changes and checkups.
BTW - I agree with SilverEvo8Owner on his list.
7200 miles and still moding
