You can modify the EFI to aid in spool up, but it's usually part of the basic tune you'll get anyway. The AFR and timing can help the turbo spool faster. As I mentioned, tuning the WGDC can also help, but most people use MBCs which negate this option.
Correct, as in a IX turbo with larger compressor wheel with a Forge WGA with some preload= mechanical changes.

While others have Evo's "tuned" for spoolup , we'll be doing our thing, creating power and torque both dyno tuned on the MD, as well as setting records at the track with REAL results.

Most-Wanted will be in the shop tomorrow getting the Tilton Twin installed. I'll make sure we "tune" his car for spoolup, because that must be the only thing keeping him from eclipsing the stock turbo world record.

Wednesday, he will follow with some 10's at Orlando Speed World.

thats not entirely correct you could also preload the wastegate actuator to achieve great spool up.

well thank goodness i'm still on stock actuator. Since upgrading to a Stock 9 turbo i saw no point in upgrading the actuator.

i will say this Most-Wanted is one hell of a driver. I wish him the best.

For a 200lb+ driver, Brian knows how to work the stick.

If so do you have any dyno sheets and how fast do you get full spool?
My advice? Learn to love revs.

When I still had the stock turbo on my Evo, I would never let the RPM drop below 3000 when the car was moving. I've had VAG turbos, and the low-end 'punch' is way overrated, IMO - nothing worse in my book than a car falling flat on its face in the upper RPM range. If I was in your shoes, I'd be looking to optimize the powerband given the stock gearing and fuel cut without giving up any spool. The usual bolt-ons and a medium sized set of cams would do the trick. Although if you really had to have earlier spool, you might want to try a set of the smaller Kelford cams.

im no "tuner"... but I did notice a huge difference when I ditched my manual boost controller to an electronic one. mostly, I believe due to the option of being able to set your start duty higher(when boost signal hits wastegate to open up) im not positive, but I believe bleeders (like mbc) may still have residual pressure on wastegate causing it to be semi cracked open? im assuming the ebc is cutting all pressure signal away until last minute, or when it hits start duty.in my case I set it to not start until 17psi. im thinking the completely shut flapper is what is causing my boost to come on faster. I mean u can feel it just throw u back immediately versus a gradual pull. im totally guessing... but there IS a huge difference. my 2cents.
