Yes, it's at Pat Leary in West Seneca. Do you know something more about it that I don't ?

Yeah I live like 20 minutes from there. That car is a pile, you actually drove it?

What was it that turned you on? The red fender? The blue door? The ****ty paint job? Mabey it was the blown struts or the bad brakes. Was it the slowness that sold you? The 5th gear grind? Must have been the passenger side molding practically coming off. Mabey the ripped up interior

Sorry dude but I live 20 minutes from there like I said. I looked at the car and took it for a drive. I would drive out to where you live just to LOOK at another evo besides that one. That car has been through hell and back.

They got that thing on a trade in at the local VW dealer, they got it "dirt cheap".

Agreed - it was no diamond in the rough. I did see the repainted fender, and the molding coming off. And the interior wasn't a 9/10 or anything... but it wasn't the worst interior I've ever seen. As for the brakes or struts, I didn't notice those. The car responded quite well when I drove it through some corners and hit the brakes. I did notice that it didn't feel as quick as I thought it would've - but I thought maybe I was just expecting too much. 5th gear didn't grind for me either.

Well, after feedback like this though, it seems pretty clear I'm going to keep looking.

rdandy, I'm just south of Jamestown, in Pennsylvania. I hope to be in an Evo very soon though and hopefully I can make it up to the city for some 'spirited' driving with some fellow Evo owners.

I could buy that car at a auction for $11,000

I only payed 25 grand for my 2006 IX MR with only 5,000 miles on it, and that was in april-2007

I recently got my 03 in pretty darn good condition with 53K miles (new engine ~5K ago) for 18.5. All it needed was new tires ($600) and AC service (cost me $100) to make it tip-top. So you're in the right ballpark, of course you don't have California price premium so I think 20K may be a bit high but not too bad.

Well I've come to terms with the fact that this particular AS Evo VIII is worth me passing on. I appreciate all the help and feedback I've gotten thus far. It reflects very highly upon this Evo community.

And good news, I'm already in contact with another seller who has a BBY VIII for sale, great miles, adult owned, and a good price. Updates to come. Already called Mitsu to have them check on it and they said it's clean on their end.

Update - put a deposit on it yesterday. Should have it by the end of this week.

I have been in this situation with other cars. I was told my last car was lightly modded (rims, front lip and side skirts) and that it was totally fine. Bought the car and no sooner did it run out of warrenty did the problems start flying. I had to replace the clutch and tranny twice, as well as many other problems.

All I would say: Buyer beware

oh and good luck!
