I got my evo about a month ago and i was replacing the bov when i noticed that i hole was made on the pipe and i have no idea why you would do that , also is it normal for a stock evo to revo to 8k cause mine does and i think it keeps on going but i didn't want to rev it any higher

that is not normal take it to the dealer ship and have the car checked out

 

It's been modded, esp since it revs to 8K. Check to see if you have a 2 step flashed in, since you have a 2003 it should not have one on the stock ROM. I bet it has a tuned ROM. You have a boost gauge/what PSI are you running? A Stock 8 should be 18/19psi.

 

Not normal. If you bought it from a dealership take it back. That hold looks like it was running meth.

 

Agreed on the Meth, go haggle the dealership. Are there any 1/2 inch holes in the firewall that aren't stock?

 

Not normal man. Get it checked out so you can know whats going on with the car. Looks like meth was there.

 

it was definitley modded, like others said most likely that was where a nozzle for meth was. Take it to the dealer and get a compression test

 

yeah it has a 2 step and also it came with a forge boost controller but no boost gauge.

 

oh and there are some 1/2 inch holes in the firewall that aren't stock 3 of them

 

the boost controller should have tipped you off that it was modded before.

 

That could also be the remains of a IAT sensor.

 

Ok, check inside the trunk, look for holes that may have been used to mount a nitrous bottle.... Not very likely though.

Holes in the firewall and a hole welded in the IC pipe points to either nitrous or meth, who knows what else was done...likely some gauges at least and the associated hardware linked with meth or nitrous. I'd place my bet on meth, so you figure it also had all the basic mods including a tune at some time. Pull out the idle motor from the throttlebody and see if it looks like it saw some heat.

On the bright side, check for stuff that may be leftover, such as an evo 9 turbo.
