Steering wheel vibrating during breaking… >30mph

It’s been three weeks since I took my car for an oil change and tire rotation. Since then I am experiencing strong vibrations while breaking only. Wonder what’s going on??

rotors? Or you need to check the balance on the wheels.

I will take it back tomorrow... I would assume that the rotors are fine with 8K miles. I don't think its the balance because it only vibrates when I apply brake.

if its only during brakeing and at that low of speeds its def not the balance. and they didn't touch the brakes so they coudln't have cause a problem there. your rotors may have hard spots on them from sitting in the rain at your house or at the dealer or from agressive driving. id say u need ur rotors cut or just don't worry about it till it gets worse.

Common case of the warped rotor! Might as well replace the pads!

Had the same problem. Just had all 4 brake discs turned and replaced the pads, fine now...

There is no such thing as a "warped" rotor. It sounds like the OP has uneven pad deposits so he would need to re-bed the pads. You can also re-tq your lugs.

when people refer to rotors being warped they are meaning that it has uneven lateral runout. this means that the center hub section of the rotor rotates properly like all do, however the rotor's stoping surface is "warped, wavy, not perfectly round"

cheap rotors come like this as oposed to the more expensive rotors that are machined with more precision for minimal lateral runout. rotors may begin to develop this runout after EXCESSIVE heating and cooling

Very unlikely pads will cause a vibration. The rotors are not flat, which is why there is a vibration when applying the brakes.... its simple. You can re-surface them if they will still be within the minimum tolerance stated, if not you will have to replace them.

I didn't say the pads caused the vibrations, I said pad deposits on the rotors would cause vibration. The rotors are not flat because of pad deposits. There is no need to re-surface as a proper re-bed will solve the issue (if this is the issue).

basicly what everybody is saying to u is it depends on ur situation. check ur brakes, provide some more info/ also provide pics and a more acurate diagnosis of ur problem can be made

The pad deposits will not stick to the rotors, they will just make the surface unflat, hense the problem. The pieces of the rotors will stick in the pads though, and all this will do is cause a squeeking noise...
As someone previously said, its mainly due to excessive heating/cooling... When i took my pads out they were fine...
