Insurance appraisal for modifications
i am wanting to get my car appraised just incase something happens to the car and the insurance company needs a record of how much money has been spent on mods. otherwise all i would get from the insurance would be the stock car value. Has anyone else done this and what was your experience, cost?

i have llstate, i called them about the situation and they said get it appraised. now, i realize that new stock parts cost more that aftermarket ( at least for the most part) so the other question is, maybe its best to get to know some one who has a collision shop.
When my white one got totalled, I had never gotten it appraised prior. So, my cheap ***, I go with a bootlag *** company. They tried to only give me 21 for an 05 with 30k on it. (This was last year). I said **** that, sent them the 30k of mods I had with recipts, and ended up getting close to 29k for it. (while taking pretty much the entire car with me, minus the shell
)

Its called fraud.
You'll need an insurance company that will allow for "special equipment". Not all companies will insure extras but other companies have a built in amount to cover the extras. If you have crap in insurance maybe you should look at getting good insurance first.

I have state farm and on my last car I just took it, and all my receipts of Mods. with me.
They made copies and took alot of pics. , then they would insure me for all mods + car...
Haven't done it with this car yet, but I need to real soon..

In most cases the OEM parts will cost more than the aftermarket stuff. I guess if you have electronics, gauges, and expensive wheels you might want to insure that but most other stuff will cost less than OEM.
