FWIW, I ran 150 gallons of C16 through my car in 2006 and it killed both o2 sensors. But 150 gallons is AFREAKINGLOT!

I probably ran an equal amount of pump gas during the week driving to work. . . Just did ALOT of racing that year.

Since I've switched to E85 and that's all I run now. Runs so clean sometimes the the CEL doesn't come on even with NO cat. . .

I ran lots of straight leaded in my 91 TSi with no problems at all. I did however run a denso o2 sensor which is very resistant to the leaded fuels and never once had a problem. Maybe you might consider switching to that o2 sensor before going ahead if you are concerned about your stockers.

So if people are mixing race fuel with pump gas then would it be better for my car if I ran a good unleaded? It seems the highest octane of unleaded ive seen is around 100 octane...is there one out there around 105 or so?

As I said already there is VP MS109 which is 109 octane AND oxygenated, so it WILL NEED RETUNING in addition to upping the boost to run it.

What is BEST is to have your car tuned on whatever gas you are running, whether it is straight 93, straight 117 VP Q16, or 97 and 100 mixed 50:50 . . .

What is key is that if you are tuned for a racing map on high octane, you need to always run than exact same fuel to NOT kill your motor ASAP . . .

Unleaded race gas is expensive and doesn't suppress knock like leaded fuel does. I've never really seen good performance from something like StreetBlaze 104.

Oxygenated VP 109 was decent but not nearly as knock proof as 110 leaded mixed with 93. Running 100 octane for only $1 more per gallon is the reason I run leaded.

Leaded fuel with a cat is a definate no-no. Just don't do it.

However, I feel with leaded fuel that a properly tuned in car shouldn't have any major issues with the o2 sensors... providing the car is dialed in correctly.

That depends on your mix. One benefit of VP MS109 is that it is oxygentated, so running equal amounts of it vs. an equiv. non oxy fuel gives more O2 to to the cyilinder. That is the EXACT reason why VP Q16 has become so popular in the past few months. . .

I ran VP Ultimate 4 in my quad back in the day and saw the same improvement in oxygenated gas vs. non-oxygenated . . . same principal on why 8000 HP TOP FUEL cars make so much power. . .

BTW, E85 WILL KILL THEM ALL AS FAR AS PERFORMANCE FOR THE $$$ GOES . . . . . . . . . . .

To the OP, what is your reason for wanting to run a higher octane?

If you have a catalytic converter on your car DO NOT run leaded race gas at all.

Im just wanting some extra power when im running people with nitrous and meth..I dont have a cat I have a test pipe so thats not a problem.. my car will be tuned for whatever fuel im running the only question that I had was which one will give me the best power with the least ammount of problems.

I've been occasionally running a mix of 93 and 110 sunoco. With premium at
4.29/ gal and 110 @ 5.95/gal, its only $11 more a tank to run 100+ octane. Turn up the boost a couple lbs. and "hold on to your fn hat".

Turning up the boost and just throwing in race gas is never guaranteed to make more power. You should always get a tune to take full advantage of race gas.
