Even untuned its generally more powerful. Of course, not as good as being tuned for it. I would trap around 110mph in the qtr mi. with 93, and 114mph with the race gas mix and a little more boost (93 oct tune).

Thats because Al tuned your car. That HUGE block of 8's for timing could only be taken advantage of with race gas.

^^^Sophistic statement, ignoring the fact that highter oct. allows for higher boost without pulling timing.

Did you read what I wrote? Your car was pulling timing and running lean before I bet. The race gas actually let you run the timing that Al put on your map. Low and High octane fuel and timing maps identical=Idiotic.

Sophistic as it pertains to sophism, not sophistication. But, good try.

You guys just took this thread to a whole new level...lol

Anyways thanks for the help guys I think my choice will either be c12 or sunoco 110octane. How often will I have to replace my plugs? I use the iridium plugs and thay cost about 10 a piece. I have heard there are plugs you can buy for about 2 bux a piece and they are still good. Which one are those and are they any account?

if you have any 02 sensors in the car the leaded gas will eat them up quicker than expected

I still am using my original o2 sensors from 4 years ago without damage, and I have run tons of leaded race fuel through my car. I never ran full tanks of it, but rather mixed it in with my 93 at the track then changed the tune.

You have nothing to worry about - this thread is all a bunch of hullabaloo. Get whatever race gas you can find with the most ease, get tuned for it at 26-28psi, and have that ROM ready for when you go to the track. If E-85 is available, then skip the gas and go with the corn!

Testudo, back before I ever even had my first flash, I used to toss in race gas at Capitol, MIR, and Mason Dixon then crank the boost and see .3s/3mph gains. No problem. I also did it with all 3 of my DSMs before that.

That's because the stock timing on an Evo is very aggressive. It's not unusual to see 8 counts of knock on the stock tune. That race gas you added took the knock out of it, and let you run a higher timing advance.

I don't know about that - it runs so rich that the stock timing rarely, if ever, causes knock. I was constantly logging at that time and didn't see such events.

I've seen the plugs of an STi running leaded race gas and after a couple of misfires they were completely fouled leading to more misfires and running on one cylinder. And yes most likely it will eat or foul your O2 sensors as well. Depending on your level of tune the plugs can foul pretty quickly, me thinks.
