Dropped my car at the dealer today
Dropped my car off last night at the dealer with a bad 5th gear syncro... i'm gonna need everyone's "good luck" that they honor my warrenty with the mods on my car. so for whoever reads this, wish me luck, i don't really feel like getting fu_ked for $1,000 because of mods that do not affect the tranny at all.
thanks
thanks
good luck.
mods cannot void the warranty unless they are PROVEN to be the cause of the problem. but we all know what really matters is if your dealer is a dick or not. there are a few other threads on this, with more info about aftermarket parts and warranties.

Hey, just make sure the dealer understands that you know about the current laws and are willing to fight to protect your rights.
If they tell you that your warranty is void, tell them that you'll willing to let the courts decide that. They will probably back down, instead of pay for lawyers and earn a bad reputation.
Rarely does it come that far, just don't get bullied around. Fight back if they try to pull some of that on you.

can't really take them off without a lot of time and effort
they include:
intake
turbo back exaust
boost controller
S-AFC
type s BOV
Smaller battery
stainless upper intercooler pipe
boost gauge
turbo timer
i dont' even still have all of the parts, so converting my car back is kindof a lost cause

Some of your mods affect engine power which affects the tranny. They can say that the synchro failed because you increased the power above factory levels. It's likely you'll pay out of pocket for the repair, unless the dealer is unusually nice. What are the odds of that?

i honestly don't know how the 5th gear got screwed up, i don't really beat on the car at all and i'm never really shifting into 5th gear with any kind of excessive force. it just started grinding one day and got progressively worse. now when shifting into 5th at any RPM over 2,500 it grinds going into gear, and if i try shifting into 5th at say 4,500 or higher it'll just grind hard and i can't even get it into gear.
i'll let you know what happens.
PS-i dropped it off last night and it's 3:30 now and the ****** still haven't called me

There is no way to pysically prove that those mods effected the tranny. Especially the 4th-5th syncro. As long as your clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, etc... are all stock then you're fine.
If they give you that increased power bull**** then Goggle up the "Magnus and Moss Warranty Act" or go to www.SEMA.com. There is no reason that the cost of your service should come from your pocket.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C))
This federal law regulates warranties for the protection of consumers. The essence of this law concerning aftermarket auto parts is that a vehicle manufacturer may not condition a written or implied warranty on the consumers using parts or services which are identified by brand, trade, or corporate name (such as the vehicle makers brand) unless the parts or service are provided free of charge. The law means that the use of an aftermarket part alone is not cause for denying the warranty. However, the law's protection does not extend to aftermarket parts in situations where such parts actually caused the damage being claimed under the warranty. Further, consumers are advised to be aware of any specific terms or conditions stated in the warranty which may result in its being voided. The law states in relevant part:
“No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumers using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade or corporate name....” (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)).
