I have no need to sell the car, so I am not in a rush, but I am also not willing to wait for a buyer without some slight modding in the mean time..
Personally , if you plan to keep the car and enjoy it for what it is, go crazy on mods and have fun with the car.

If you plan to resell (like it seems you are contemplating) I would keep it completely bone stock as this is what 90% of potential Evo buyers dream for. You save money by not buying mods and increase the value of the car, by doing absolutely nothing at all.

Keep us posted, you have a rare gem there.

But at the end of the day, what really is the point of holding on to a car so it may increase in value, and may make a few dollars off of it if you sell it.

I for one cannot deal with the 4x4 look anymore, and HAVE to buy lowering springs. I don't know if lowering springs actually hurt the value that much because you are not touching the drivetrain/engine, but I really can't stand it anymore.

But at the end of the day, what is the point of modding a car you are planning to sell right? You just lose money at the end of the day on parts you're selling with the car.

If you love your Evo and can see yourself with it for the next few years, I'd say go mod crazy and have fun with it. Just know the car would be worth more without any of the mods you would plan to install.

Good luck man.

I'll be 30 next year, and I don't mind the car (while having owned Evos since I was 22). I network with a lot of lawyers and people in real estate and other fields, it doesn't hold me back. They happily work with me, and I will be the president of that networking group as of October. I thought about a X, but the edge in fun factor is worth keeping my IX. Just my opinion. But I had thought about it before, especially when the 2010 Evo X SE came out, since it was an intersting package, plus my girlfriend could drive it (since she can't drive stick) and would really like the heated seats (since I run A/C even at night).

If that's the case, you might as well just hold onto it. The Evo Xs are great but if you're considering an upgrade out of want more so than need, then I'd rather wait for something else since the car has been nearly the same over the past few years without any noteworthy upgrades. But that's just me.

Then get springs then. But I never thought that it looked too high, unless you are going with larger aftermarket wheels, which will make it look like it needs to be dropped.

'04 w/ SSL and 35k (original) on the clock.

Has engine most of the "bolt on" engine mods.

Stock suspension, exterior, interior...never modded.

No accidents, flawless paint, no cracking on wing.

Guesstimate?

I just bought mine for $16k a few weeks ago. Bone stock Apex Silver 2006 IX GSR with 87k. Only mods were a subwoofer and head unit. I've been told I got a pretty good deal, I'm quite happy with the car.

@sonicnofadz.... dude i know your trying to be a realist but that is horsesh*t about "might as well be frame damage" I don't care what carfax doesn't specify if i have to I will call and meet with the customer myself to PROVE to him what carfax cannot. that is has NO frame damage. Gents... list your cars for what YOU know their worth. Don't rape people (and i think we all know not to on the price) and don't lowball yourself for God sakes.

wow forgot that was a post from aug 2008 i was looking at ^. Well regardless guys... there are plenttty of things that "sell the car" but in my experience it has alwayssss been the PAPERWORK TRAIL that has really SOLD the car.

(of course factoring in the regular maintenance, care/love, and cleanliness that must exist as well).
