The Shield around my (aftermarket high flow) cat is rattling. can i take it off or should i have someone re-weld it? i don't think it is anything but cosmetic but it is annoying as hell

Its just a heat shield I don't see the problem with taking it off. I have yet to see a test pipe with a heat shield you will be fine..

Oh man! That buzzing you get with those is annoying. My vote is to just ditch the shield.

I have a similar rattle but I have stock exhaust...does a stock exchaust come with a heat shield as well? I get the rattle above 70MPH and mostly when the A/C is on...weird...

it might be the heat sheild above the exhaust or the downpipe heatshield is loose i would take a look at the dp and maybe if there are scuff marks on the heat shield otherwise it might something more serious. has anyone taken that heat shield off by the way? the one above the exhaust that goes all the way down it rubs against my bigger exhaust and is really annoying. i want to but im not sure if it will burn something

I fixed the exhaust heat shield on my old subaru with stainless steel hose clamps. All better, and the heat shield is still in place doing its thing quietly. Takes some time to find the exact spot of the rattle but you'll find it.
