Dodge to market future EVO?
Lets start with the usual........being a motorcycle enthusiast, I've heard rumors of 180hp this, 360 pound that....mostly all rumor and bull****. I'd have to throw this right on the pile and realize, Im paying for my Evo for the next 5 years. Unless something earth shattering changes, I'll probably work on having my Evo in the 500+ range and not really caring what flashy beer cans with wheels Dodge can make. All that said; props to the SRT4. Cool, indeed.
This did say lancer, and not EVO. I just thought that I would point that out. Although the EVo si related to the Lancer, maybe it is the small lancer with its little engine that could be changed. Even if it was I don't think that that many people would care as long as the EVO was the same.
dodge/plymouth/chrysler & mitsu? are they trying to bring back DIAMOND STAR MOTORS? the eclipse/talon, stealth/3000gt...now evo/dodgeevo? just wouldn't look right with that stupid dodge logo (the ram) on an evo.
Wasn't there talk of the "Colt" returning. If I remember correctly
and Dodge shared this platform in the past. I thought I heard mention in the past of a "Colt" being badged as an "Evolution" in the future as well (for a new rally platform). If there is any truth to the rumor maybe that's what it pertains to.

It certainly wouldn't surprise me to see Dodge doing something like that. With GM bringing in the Monaro/GTO next year, and the ability for Ford to bring in an AWD Focus platform, Dodge certainly has to be thinking about how it can counter these offerings. The SRT4 is a neat little car, but FWD just doesn't cut it when you start comparing cars capable of supercar level performance.
Its alrady been said, but I am also extremely happy to have purchased the real thing. Don't think for an instant that the Evo's future is somehow confidently secured now that its finally being offered here in the states. If Mitsubishi can make more money in a joint effort with a domestic car mfgr they will do it. The costs to import a car are invariably passed along to the customer, and any way a car can be made more attractive through pricing reductions while still maintaining or increasing market share(regardless of who the buyers are)is going to be explored I am sure.
Personally I think a set of Road-runner stickers(you know the ones with the helmet dangling from his wing?) would look great on the sides of an Evo's wing! Add the road runner horn and you have the making for a new EVO Superbird!!
Just joking of course
...although I do think the EVO has that kind of no compromise hard-*** personality!

After all, if they used a Mercedes engine in the Crossfire ... heck, engines is the one thing Mopar knew how to build.
Allpar is a lot of speculation. So don't be overly concerned.
Yes,
will develop the next Lancer with Dodge. This new platform will also be the underpinning for the next EVO. The departure of the USDM versus the JDM will be the location it may be built at and what technology will be included (sort of like AYC/ACD or not).
Dodge will likely have its "EVO" but it will be SRT (MOPAR) tuned, with its own technology (not RalliArt tech like AYC) purpose.
RalliArt will continue to tune the EVO, but it may get built here (I for one personally hope NOT).

Wow like stated before be glad you got the Evo 8 now I think it is amazing we got this car here and now American Lobbiest have realized that they will never sell another car in that range trying to compete against that car. So they will probably try and block the car and steralize it with some american **** car with bouncy suspension. The only thing that may come to market that has a chance is if they do a true Ford Focus all wheel drive rally car. that would be about the only thing I could think of or do what they are doing throw alot of money at trying to buy their way in with some crappy joint venture to produce something half ***.

Unless Ford changes its corporate focus (no pun intended) again.
I saw a pair of SVT Focus(foci?)the other day, both were equipped with the euro-package. They were extremely nice with black leather recaro seats and interior, special paint, HID's and various other very cool upgrades. Not bad, and much cooler than the regular SVT focus thats for sure but the sticker was only $21k!
Ford has been campaigning an AWD turbo focus in the stateside rally races and they keep referring to it as the turbo-charged awd SVT focus. I originally thought we were going to get the RS200(I think thats the euro version awd turbo focus right?), but now I am thinking we may instead see the car campaigned under the SVT banner.
Bottom line is that if it is like the current euro package SVT focus with guts and awd it will be a hell of a cool car if and when it finally gets here! I always loved hatchbacks!
